Speck MacBook Pro 15" See-Thru Hard Case - BLACK - Fits all versions of 15" MacBooks

Can this REALLY protect my computer? Well...Sort of!!
I decided to buy this product after carefully reading over most every review written. When I got the product i was shocked to see how frail and flexible the plastic really was, mixed reports of the strenght of the plastic made this aspect of the product hard to really understand. So let me say once and for all: the plastic is very weak, and seemingly offers no protection. For a comparision: it's about as strong as the plastic on a CD case. They could have made a product with a greater density and no added bulk, but what you see is what you get. Next, as stated in many other reviews, the top right corner of the case does not clip in...at all. So there is a posibility of the case breaking if snaged (e.g. the corner is caught on a cord or something and you go to pick it up *snap*). So what are the Ups? Well, the case does look sweet on, and I still get comments about it. The case truely does offer a unique look to the Mac Book Pro. Another up is that it will protect the bottom and top from scratches, but this is no feat. I'm almost certain that I scratched part of the case removing it from the plastic. But if it takes something of my 2.5 k computer, I'm happy. But don't expect this to make you computer drop proof. I bought another case that is really intense for that...it actually looks like an old man bag...no the look I was shooting for: " Brenthaven Edge II Sleeve (Black) for 15.4" MacBook Pro " In concludion: if you want a unique look, scratch protection, and sub-standard plastic, this is for you. I am happy with it overall, understanding that it is NOT super strong and has a lot of potential to be a five star product. IF you want something that MAY be stronger, maybe look for a case that isn't clear, odds are: it isn't clear because the plastic is denser. *RumorS* Rumor has it that the case causes overheating. I have had no trouble with anything like this YET. I can see how the case MIGHT prohibit the proper amount of ventilation when charging or watching a movie, and especially when charging AND watching a movie.Cool and practical
I purchased this for my wife's MacBook Pro. She has a thing for red and this turned the normal, kind of blah Pro into a flashy unit, easily identified from others. Aside from all the aesthetic aspects, the cover fits extremely well (even though there is a slight curl in the top cover but not enough to matter) and does not impede the unit's ability to dump heat. I would highly recommend these units for the iBooks as well. the nice white finish does not wear well when used heavily. This cover can make any unit look great, and functions well at protecting the finish. Available in many colors and graphics as well.Terrific investment in a Mac Book Pro - a Speck case
I first learned of Speck cases for Macs from my brother-in-law, who found them to be a worthwhile investment in the higher cost and better quality of a Mac laptop. So, after buying a 15" MacBook Pro, I purchased a clear Speck case. I am very pleased. Installation was a snap ... pardon the pun ... and the case definitely protects the nice aluminum case of the Mac. The case fits snugly. My brother in law had issues with an earlier model of case: the DVI plug could not be fully inserted into the laptop side because the Speck case prevented a snug fit. Current models fix that problem by simply leaving that side of the case open. Much improved. My only complaint about the case is that dust and debris tends to collect down in the case near the edges of the laptop. But, that's a small price to pay for protection. And the clear case looks great on the high-end Mac Book Pro. Buy one.coolest case ever!
I love this case! It was extremely easy to put on (and just as easy to remove), it looks great, everything is accessible and hopefully I don't have to worry about scratching my computer anymore. I heard this case can help improve airflow and keep the computer a few degrees cooler; so far this seems to be true, normally mine runs fairly hot after just a few minutes, but now it's staying just warm instead of burning my lap.Great product. Tight fit.
Perfect fit for the Macbook Pro. One of the best cases around. Really nice color selection. Only downfall is some dust accumulation but besides that is a very good quality product.Wednesday, July 30, 2008
Kinamax SPK-IPDW Portable & Foldable Mini Audio System Speakers for iPod/mp3 player/Laptop/PDA/CD Players
![]() |
Great little Cheapos
This little speaker system is great for my needs. Not huge sound but clear and clean sound. Better than I expected for $5Great Value - You get more than you pay for
Very nice for the price. My Palm plays audio and video but the external speaker is very poor. I have a small pair of Sony speakers, but they were simply not much better than the Palm speaker. I thought I'd try these and if they weren't any better than the Sony speakers I wasn't out much money. Frankly my little $6 investment in these have provided a pleasant surprise. They are much better than the Sony speakers. The quality and quantity of sound from them is, maybe not excellent, but certainly good. These aren't going to compete with a $100 set of speakers, nor are they aren't going to fill a room with sound. But if you want to listen to MP3 player, Palm or anything with subtandard speakers, for $6 (even at $15) they are a bargain. The little stereo plug and wire wraps around the back and get's covered by the battery cover. The speakers fold out. It has adaquate volume control and an on/off switch. The little tray for an MP3 player is too narrow for my Palm TX, but would fit any MP3 player. It also came with a USP power cable. All around, this is a very good value and I recommend them.Good for the money
I purchased these speakers to make my purchase eligible for free shipping. I didn't pay much, and these speakers are worth the price. They sound fine, they're portable, and I like that they accept USB power.Great sound for a little cheapy
I bought this to take on a trip. It folds and sets up easily and gives out a decent sound for a little cheapy. Very happy with it.for $5 it has a really nice sound
I was just trying to find a cheap compact speaker set for my nano to play music while working in the yard or running the kids around the neighborhood in the golf cart (we have a big, spread-out subdivision). ***The only problem is that the ipod doesn't sit nicely in the stand as pictured because of the need to plug in at the bottom of the ipod.***HP Pavilion DV2940SE 14.1" Laptop (2.10 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL-62 Dual Core Mobile Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium)

Original Dell Latitude / Inspiron PA 10 Ac adapter 9T215, 7W104, 2H098, 09T215
![]() |
Not as advertised
While the adapter arrived in good condition and appears to be technically fine, I received a 65W AC adapter instead of the 90W adapter that should have been sent. After all, the seller claims a Dell OEM adapter, which if true would be 90W. When plugging it to my laptop, the computer identified it as a 65W version instead of the 90W version that originally shipped. Worse, while the computer would run, my processor speed dropped from 2.2GHz to 1.2GHz while using this adapter instead of the 90W version. Further, battery charge time is extended. My experience may be an anomoly (since others posted good experiences with their purchase), but potential buyers should be aware they may receive a version of the adapter that is not the same as what shipped with their Dell. This may be acceptable as a secondary, travel or backup adapter solution, but will not work as a primary solution. Bottom line: this seller needs to list the version that buyers can anticipate receiving. The information provided leaves the buyer expecting an exact replacement for their original Dell AC adapter when--at least in my experience--this is not true. I have notified the seller and I am awaiting a response. I'll amend this post as soon as the response is received.Interferes with TV
Generates strong interference with our TV which runs off a rooftop antenna with signal amplifier. Works OK otherwise. The original Dell adapter does not cause interference.Exactly as ordered
The product shipped immediately, a new Dell AC Adapter from Cable4Less. I am extremely happy with the company and the charger's performance as I needed a second one so I would not have to keep plugging in and out my primary charger. I didn't think I could get such a good deal on a real Dell product.Lucky
I was very lucky to find this AC Adapter, It had to be an original Dell Latitude and I could not find it any where else but Dell who wanted a lot of money for it. I got it here on Amazon for $20.00 and am very grateful. Thanx AmazonAc Adapter
The delivery is so quick and the quality is so good. Good seller.Belkin Neoprene Notebook Sleeve for 17-Inch Laptop (F8N049-BR)

It Would've Gotten 4 Stars if .....
I had received the color that I selected. I chose brown/light blue and received black/red. The product code and description gave no indication as to the color that was chosen, so I had no way to tell if my selection was what was processed in the order.Excellent fit
Just picked this up for a Gateway FX 6831. I was a little concerned because of this laptops awkward battery that protrudes from the back of the laptop about three quarters of an inch. The sleeve fits like it was made for this laptop. There is a piece of piping on the inside of the zipper that should prevent the zipper from coming in contact with the laptop (a very tight fit when zipped up). I cant comment on the durability yet as I just received it today. I purchased the matching mouse trap as well; it doesnt match very well, it is a tad lighter than the laptop sleeve. The trim piece that is about 1" is a very close match to the sleeves color. It was a lot bigger than I had envisioned too. A full sized mouse will swim in it, my Microsoft 5000 bluetooth mouse could bring four of his friends along and still be comfortable. It came with a pouch and I discovered that my PSP fit very nicely in the mouse trap :)Excellent Sleeve
This is a perfect sleeve for a 17" laptop. It fits it perfectly, but not too much that it won't zip. It's slim and also very stylish and and can slip into any messenger bag. This is good for people who are on the go but don't want to drag around a rolling laptop case. Nice choice.I Would Recommend This Product
I looked for quite some time for a case for my 17" Dell Inspiron. I read the reviews of different products and the reviews for this seems to fit my needs. I like it because it's light, it's soft and it fits my Dell like a glove. I also bought the coordinated Belkin Mouse Trap Mouse Pad and I recommend it too! This actually fits my new 17" laptop!
I recently bought a new 17" HP laptop and began what seemes would be a never ending quest for a case to put it in. I purchased many other items saying that they would fit my 17", and they definitely did not. This item actually fits, and with a little room to spare. I don't have to stretch and strain to zip up the case. It is perfect to protect my new laptop from scratches and whatever else I may throw in my bag with it. I also bought the matching mouse trap by Belkin, and it's a must have too!Monday, July 28, 2008

PNY OPTIMA 1GB DDR 333 MHz PC2700 Notebook / Laptop SODIMM Memory Module MN1024SD1-333

Works great with Dell Inspiron 700m laptop
Looked at a number of companies' memory chips and decided to take chance on PNY. I have used their products in the past and been completely satisfied. I purchased this for my 700m (and specifically wanted to mention this since I had a hard time determining the requirements for a 700m). The Dell takes one or two modules up to 1GB each. They don't have to match in size, so I am told, but it is best if they do. I purchased two 1GB modules. Installation was not as easy as expected, but not hard either. The lower memory module is inserted by removing the "M" panel from the bottom of the Inspiron. The upper module requires that you disassemble part of the computer. Again, not as hard as expected. [...] It took me about 20 minutes to install both chips and get the laptop up and running. What a difference! I started with 2 x 256MB and upgraded to 2 x 1GB. Where the laptop churned and churned when I switched users--taking 2-3 minutes to switch--now a user change takes about 10-15 secs. Should things change after I have had them for a while, I will update this. For the moment, I am very pleased.Computer Chip Upgrade for Laptop
Prior to this purchase, my laptop would shut down or freeze when I was editing pictures. I needed a screw driver to open the compartment and my fingers inserted the chip. The first time I inserted the chip my computer did not work. I took it out and reinserted it the exact same way and my computer immediately recognized the memory and worked faster than ever. I recommend this upgrade.Wrong part for mac
Was good price. Only problem wasn't correct part. Not shippers fault. Was PNY's data base. You can never have too much RAM!
If this is the type/amount of RAM you need for your laptop, buy it. Easy to install, works like a dream. What a difference it makes! VERY good prices, as always at Amazon.Didn't work in my Powerbook G4 1.25GHz
I had exactly the same problem as D. Belden "db". These particular modules didn't work in my 15" Powerbook G4 1.25ghz. With them installed, things seemed fine for a while, and then applications would start freezing, and then the whole system would freeze.Sunday, July 27, 2008
Creative ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook-70SB071000000
![]() |
Be Aware: ExpressCard only available on newer notebooks
I assumed that my Dell Inspiron 9300 was new enough to use this card, but I was wrong. The 9300 has the older CardBus or PCMCIA type slot. Only after reading about ExpressCard in Wikipedia did I realize I had made a big mistake. It is a newer faster interface that is not compatable with CardBus. Oh Well, maybe it's time to get a more modern computer so I can use my fancy new soundcard!Works Great
I bought this card for one reason - I use my laptop for games, and I am running Windows Vista. The onboard soundcard in my laptop doesn't support any EAX-alike (hardware 3D sound) features, even for only 2 channels. This card supports every last one. If you use Creative's ALchemy software, you can run old EAX titles with full hardware sound, in Vista, when using a Creative card. For games, an absolute must-have. For music, it's decent. It has the "X-Fi Crystalizer", which is essentially a compressor. It can make some songs sound great, and I'm sure I would use it a lot more if I didn't know how to tweak my music manually. Same goes for movies. For music production, well, it's a little bit lacking. I can get down to 5 ms delay using ASIO4ALL, but it doesn't seem to have native ASIO nor that one Vista sound interface nobody uses ;-). This is kindof a bummer, but it has more support than my onboard card, so it's good enough. Overall, the card is very nice. I'm not sure about the value - the current going price is kinda steep - but I don't regret the purchase at all.amazing
I got this sound card and the optional surround sound upgrade kit for about 80 used here from a seller at amazon and its terrific. I haven't written a review in over a year but I felt that I had to for this product. I had the Creative Notebook ZS soundcard that worked well for my XP machine and when i got a new computer with Vista and installed it, the sound was never the same. With Xp the sound is rich and detailed, with Vista, it always sounded as if it was a "copy of a copy" -- sort of a washed out sound. The ZS's drivers weren't made for vista and the vista updates for it never worked as should. The X-Fi card's drivers are engineered for Vista and you can hear it. The sound is rich, detailed and LOUD. Installation went extremely smoothly and there is an built in update engine so you don't have to go to the Creative website and manually update it. The interface is very user friendly and there are heaps of features that come along with the superb sound. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is interested in excellent sound.Unbeatable Practicality in Notebook Sound
I raise an eyebrow at reviews that contain statements like, "I'm pretty sure they are all defective." My experience with this card has been nothing short of stellar, and others share the same experience. This card is not marketed as a gaming soundcard, although it will handle games. The main purpose of this card is to give you unparalleled sound for music and movies, and it definitely delivers on both fronts. I am very particular about sound, and couldn't tolerate the electronic noise contamination from my HP Pavilion's on-board soundcard, thus I bought this card. Using very sensitive in-ear monitors, I could not detect any electronic buzz at any volume level. The card really isolates your sound from all the other electronic fluctuations going on in your computer, and delivers great sound. The software interface is very intuitive, and even has a button that toggles playback through your notebook speakers--a tiny feature, but it shows that real thought went into the product design. People are already familiar with Creative's EAX and Crystallizer technologies, so I won't review them here, suffice to say they work just fine. What won me over was the fact that this tiny wonder has -both- optical inputs and outputs, enabling one to connect it to a Dolby Digital decoder (for multi-speaker setups), an external DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter), or any permutation of such devices! Furthermore, sound quality output is versatile with both 48Khz and 96Khz master outputs, in 16 or 24-bits. Besides the optical ports, the dock provides a multitude of connection options. When considered from a price-to-performance/features point of view, the Xi-Fi ExpressCard is a real winner. Products in this category are already rare, but Creative has put some real thought into this, and it shows. Please note that this product is incompatible with the following notebooks: * 1. Fujitsu Lifebook E8210* * 2. Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1667G* *As listed on Creative's WebsiteDisappointing
I assumed the docking module was included, but it is not. It was pictured on the box (I guess Creative has since changed it), and just the sound card is not much use to me. The docking module cost another $35 or so directly from Creative. And the Docking Module seems like a relatively simple thing that Creative could've tacked on to the card for a lot less. I wanted it to this product so I could set-up my Creative Labs Gigaworks S750 7 Piece THX 7.1 Speaker System with my laptop. I'm running Windows Vista, and it was tricky to find the right settings to make everything work correctly. It was especially tricky to find the settings because the speaker system, which I had long before this card, came with a 4-3 multi-channel cable (no gray "side" plug on one end) instead of a full 4-4 cable. (Another big thumbs-down to Creative.) So I have it set-up as a 7.1 and upmix from 5.1 to 7.1 from the speaker hardware/control pod as a compromise, as no setting can give me the side channels with a new cable. I don't know much about the subject, but after not finding the docking module in the box, I thought I would be able to use the card's optical-out to connect to the remote/control pod and pipe the multi-channel sound out that way. I don't remember if it was even possible, but it didn't come with a cable to try it. It would be nice if this was a USB thing I could plug into the back so I don't have another thing sticking out the side on the machine.Saturday, July 26, 2008
Case Logic VNC-17 17-inch Value Slimline Laptop Case (Black)

17 INCH LAPTOP CASE
NICE PRODUCT BUT BARELY BIG ENOUGH FOR THE LAPTOP. NO ROOM FOR THE EXTERNAL POWER CORD.Good value laptop case
Ample room for my 17" Toshiba laptop and power cord. Very durable outer material with soft cushioned interior to protect the laptop. Case zips open to 90 degrees so the computer can be used while still inside. All in all a very good value from a reputable manufacturer.case logic vnc-17
I have a heavy 17 inch HP laptop that I needed a bag for. This case logic bag has been great. it has enough pockets for me to keep a folder/binder in side it as well along with the charger, pens, wallet, phone etc. I only had one problem with the bag since I received it. the clasp on the the end of the strap broke the 3rd day I had it. I was no big deal, i just swapped out straps from a duffel bag. Other than that I think the bag is excellent and I am glad i purchased this bag.very nice
This case easily accomodates our 17 inch laptop with room to spare. It is easy to get the laptop out at the airport to pass through security. A mouse and powercord easily fit inside along with a couple of magazines. It is a basic but adequate case.Good fit...Well made
I purchased this for my husband's laptop a couple of months ago and he is, over all, pleased with it. It fits his 17" Toshiba nicely and there is some additional room for accessories and a couple of files. When he travels, however, he often has to take quite a few files with him and he is not able to fit them all in the bag. I don't think that is a major problem with the bag itself but I believe it it noteworthy. I really like Case Logic products and that is one of the main reasons I chose this bag. I have several of their products for other uses and they last forever for me. This is an attractive, no frills but very nicely made, bag.Sony VAIO VGP-BPS2C Standard Capacity Battery for Sz and Fe Series Notebooks

fast service/best price/works great
better price than buying direct from Sony. Easy input ..worked right away very pleasedWorks like the Original
Purchased the battery for my Sony Vaio VGN-SZ160P about 3 months ago and it works just as well as when the computer was originally purchased 2 years ago. It's unfortunate that the battery needs to be replaced within 2 years, especially at such a high price point ($171.99). I guess that comes with the territory.Sony VAIO battery
This a good battery for me, although it might not be too good for those who wish to play games while in battery mode. I do not play games, so I am satisfied with it. ZoricaNo surprises here
This product is fine and just like the one that comes with you computer. If your computer battery can longer hold a long charge than you'll just need to shell out for a new battery. On My 2nd Battery in about a year and a half
I just called Sony after having my 2nd battery die (I've had my Sony Vaio laptop about a year and a half). They said that batteries are only warrantied for 90 days. The second battery lasted less than 6 months (and I do not use my lap top as my primary computer). I'm not sure what the standard battery life is, but 6 months seems kind of short.Friday, July 25, 2008
Body Glove 15-Inch Neoprene Small Laptop Sleeve (97761)

stylish but could use more padding
Sleek style. Very elegant black. Roomy interior with couple pockets. I was disappointed it did not have thicker padding. I do not think /feel that it provides enough protection as it is. May be I should have bought the comp bag for a little more money instead of this sleeve- but for the price it is ok and functional. I slide it into another bag. Unfortunately it has no handles to hold on to (it would have been more convenient-and even doubled for some sort of a bag-on a short work day/trip). Pro-Stylish look and slides nicely into your bag Con-I like more protection for my compGreat for Wacom Tablet!
I bought this for my Wacom Intuos3 6 x 8 Pen Tablet to keep it safe in transit in my laptop bag. It fits perfectly! Of course the mouse and pen don't fit inside but I store them in a compartment in my laptop bag.Works For Me
I got it for my old Dell (B130, 15.4) and this works well. My laptop fits neatly inside the glove without any problems. If you're willing to spend more money, I'm sure you will be able to find a better product. But for those on a budget or people like myself who just need something simple, this is a good buy.Body Glove 15-Inch Laptop Sleeve
This product is perfect fit into my laptop 14.1" LCD. At first I'm afraid it cannot support or does not have more space to zip. But perfect!! In side, there is one space to put other documents separate to laptop also.Good
Good for a great price. Is heavy with my laptop in it. I probably should have paid extra for one with handles.Logitech AudioHub Notebook Speakers

Basic but Very Good
Logitech is a trusted brand, and so far I have never been let down by them. These speakers have surpassed anything of their kind that I have ever used. They can be used on a PC setup ( even with no Sound Card, since it picks up the sound output from the Operating System) and it can work well on a laptop, both MAC and PC, to provide an augmented and very portable sound. This sound is in, it should be noted , an augmented 2.1 Stereo, with a Central Subwoofer that surpasses some regular bass ends of speakers that one might use quite easily. I tested the response using some early Joe Walsh Albums ( 1972-73) for that regular country tone which deserves a rich response and it gave a great rendering of the guitars and voice. I heard things in the audio I have not heard before. I tried the same test with Zakk Wylde's BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's albums, and the sound was awesome. This is a great set of speakers with superb response at close range; perfect for users close to the unit. Also, the Regular OS sounds are great, and games come off with crystal clear sounds. An awesome, and clear range Highly Recommended.Awesome Sound!!!
This has great sound. If you have itunes loaded on your computer you would have a great time at your desk. It works like a docking station and fits easily up to your 17.5 in. computer. I love it!Excellent Sound Quality and Extra USB Ports
I just took these speakers out of the box, plugged the USB cable using the included USB extender into my laptop, plugged in its power supply and then turned on my laptop. It automatically set itself up and started working. I must admit that I was amazed at how rich the sounds are that come out of this speaker system. I had video of a lecture that I could not hear at full volume on my laptop. But now it is like listening to the lecture live with a good quality sound system. And I only have the volume at the 20% level. Even at full volume, which is now much to loud, there is no distortion or hiss. I am very happy to have these. The AudioHub speaker system features an adjustable one-piece, three-chamber speaker system with an integrated subwoofer. You are able to adjust the speakers position so that they clear the sides of your laptop screen. The volume control/mute button on the AudioHub is lit so you always no when it is not muted. And the mute button turns off the sound without cutting power to the integrated USB hub, which has three built-in Hi-Speed USB ports. So you use one USB port for the speakers and have a two USB port net gain.Just what I was looking for.
Ever since I got my ibook 18 months ago, I've had no complaints...except for the speakers. Listening to anything was okay at best, and sometimes you really want to hear the fine details of music. I considered to be one downside of a great laptop. I thought about getting external speakers, but the bulk and wires meant I'd be tethered to a desk. The Logitech has been a graceful compromise: it's sleek, attractive, easy to move around, and the sound is amazing fcoming rom such a small device. The music on my ibook suddenly has a million more dimensions, and i don't mean just volume. It's given my ibook an entirely new lease on life! It's easy to put together, a big plus for a non-techie like me. The price is emminently reasonable, and IMHO, definitely worth it. Highly recommend!LOVE IT!!!
I have a small computer work area, and this was exactly what I was looking for. Once again I was able to find exactly what I wanted from Amazon.Thursday, July 24, 2008
Lowepro Transporter Camera Strap
![]() |
The ring broke after 2 months usage
I am disappointed with the product. I use it on Canon 40D for 1 month, around 3-4 times a week and one of the ring broke (the one that connected to the camera). The straps has little pockets that store 2 extra Compact Flash cards, when I am in shooting in portrait orientation, this container often annoy me by blocking my view. The shoulder strap is fine and better than Canon strap that I get.Nice strap, but attachment to camera gets in the way
The idea of a detachable strap is great, but in LowePro's Transporter design, the quick release and buckles on the camera attachment are too big, stiff and bulky, even for a pro camera body. They were always in the way of the controls and the LCD on the camer. They also impaired holding the camera -- I was fighting the dongles all the time. It was a relief to get this thing off the camera. It's OK as a secondary strap for a large lens or a medium camera case, where is is not on the camera itself. The detachable memory card carrier is a throw-away; there are better places to stow a card, where you don't have to rip your way through a rat nest of Velcro to get to it. The slip-resistant silkscreen pattern on the shoulder pad is rather ineffective -- needs to be tackier. In sum: a good concept, poor execution; needs a serious rework.Good replacement for standard straps
This strap is very comfortable and adjusts to a greater carying length than the cheap one which comes with your SLR. Its benefit is particularly felt when carrying a larger telephoto zoom for a while. The card storage envelope is a nice touch and does not get in the way when raising the camera for a shot. The quick release clips may come in handy when switching camera bodies in the field - though you will have to buy a second strap for this. Manufacturing quality is in keeping with Lowe's high standard for rugged nylon gear. Not long enough
Overall I'd say not worth the money. I'm still looking for a better after market strap for my D200. This one is too short to wear across the body if you're tall like I am.Quality Camera Strap
This Camera strap works great for my Nikon D40. The strap that came with my camera wasn't as nice and was sorta ugly. This strap is much better.Wednesday, July 23, 2008

i ASUS Eee PC 900 20G (8.9" Display, 900 MHz Intel Mobile CPU, 1 GB RAM, 20 GB Solid State Drive, Linux, 4 Cell Battery) Galaxy Black After reading reviews for a couple of weeks, I purchased a eeepc900. i was happy with the size and the quality of the screen image, but linux is just useless. i had no idea that there are so many things you can't do, and the eeepc seems impossible to upgrade without first adding windows xp, which i'll do next week. anyway, i think asus is a terrible company because after just two weeks of this 900 version, they put out a 16g version, with xp, for $150 less than i paid. there's no way to return mine, because by the time i pay the restocking fee, i've already lost the money. i really, really wish i had waited for a MSI. dont buy eeepc. i made a mistake with this purchase.A great portable computer
This is a great, cheap portable computer. It is light, fast and does exactly what I need it to do. I wanted something to write, read email, and watch shows on the train. Perfect. Why I love my ASUS Eee PC 900 20g (8.9 inch Display)
First..thanks to everyone that wrote a review, it helped in my purchasing decision. I chose this laptop for a number of reasons: My Toshiba Satellite of about 4 yrs died in the middle of a final paper for class. My sister purchased a HP laptop that came pre-installed with Vista (hated it!!) My daughter has a macbook and we love it!! Finally - I wanted to try out Linux and I wanted a smaller subnotebook, after lugging around a 15 inch toshiba...it was time for a change! I researched this baby for about 3 months. Everyday..reading reviews, calling my fellow techie friends asking their input..finally I realized no one could talk me out of buying my baby mac..(that is what I called it)..of course like some people I had a great justification for purchasing my new toy...well..its a graduation gift to me from me, and well..um..I wanted to get macbook, but this is MUCH cheaper...and most important..I wanted to try out Linux ..thanks to GWBush - I bought it!!! The keyboard is small, but hey, like anything in life, I got use to it...I have read lot of complaints about users with the XP version..hmm..HELLO..MICROSOFT!!! I am so quickly moving away from XP to Linux! Besides I am a google user - I typed all of my papers in google documents...I love Mozilla...so..yes I love my new toy...I just drop it into my bag - yes I am a woman that carries a big bag so this is perfect. I am able to watch streaming videos on youtube and my online movie sites...listen to streaming music - just hook it up to my speakers...hey..my own stereo system!! My advice - dont use XP - go with Linux!!Wait or 901
Asus like made this unit as a hold over til the atom models where released. It is a bigger version of the 701. I thought the quality was not as good as the 701. The power cord kept falling out. The unit used more battery. Spend a little more and get the atom processor. I returned this unit, faulty charging is not a good for a laptop. The battery was not holding a charge eitherI like it so far. Got it at Best Buy for $449
I can understand why one of the reviewers was disappointed with his Asus eee 900. I got mine at Best Buy for $449.00 and a trimmed down version of Windows XP Home was pre-installed. It cannot handle Vista or a full version of XP and especially XP Pro. I also won't be adding MS Office products. If I need to work on something like that I will use the pre-installed Star Office or Works and save it in the appropriate format. For my needs, surfing the net at starbucks, etc. it will work great. I was also able to install VZAccess Manager and connect to Verizon Broadband with my USB720 modem. It has 3 USB Ports which is great, more than I expected. The speakers work great. Sound better than my Gateway Solo laptop. I used my iPod to transfer files like VZAccess Manager exe to the Asus. I'm on the road and forgot to bring a USB Stick. Also it comes with a nice padded sleeve although the small power supply/cord will not fit in that. A ZDNet review says the battery will last 3+ hours and that's with playing a DVD (external drive). That would be great on an airplane. I wish they had internet access on the plane :b...Belkin F9H220-TVL Travel Surge Protector with Hidden Swivel Plug
![]() |
Pretty simple, I guess.
It does what it's supposed to do, I suppose. The two plugs are just enough for my laptop and a friend's (if we need to split a plug). I feel awkward using it in the library but I'd rather not ruin my laptop... I have also used the led on the front to find grounded outlets in my apt... apparently not all of them are... but it does what its supposed to for minimal cost...Love the portability.
I purchased this surge protector shortly after buying a laptop. I wanted some way to protect my computer when I was away from home, and I love the idea of the fold down plug. I also like the indicator lights. This surge protector has two outlets, so I can also use it for another device at the same time.More than a Travel Surge Protector
I'm finding this product to be more useful that I first expected. My intent was to use this only when I travel. But now I find that I use it mostly around the house as a dedicated surge protector for my laptop. I just leave it connected to my power supply and go from room to room, protected in any outlet I use. The Belkin even let me know that some of my outlets aren't grounded! Good to know!Good Product
So, this is actually a good buy! I tried a lesser version of a "travel surge protector" from Radio Shack but it cost more (18.99 on sale mind you) and it was like double the size with ONE outlet. =( So I took a risk in buying this item from here. 11 bucks is a deal. The "swivel" feature is a plus so the plug wont stab or scratch your laptop computer and it takes up less space in your bag. It has a nifty two sided plug perpendicular from a wall outlet to give easy access if you run into furniture. Hope this helps you decide if your going to buy.Works great
As far as I can tell its working great. Only issue was the fold away plug was super difficult to unfold.Tuesday, July 22, 2008
Black Np Sleeve Macbook 13.3"
![]() |
Sleek, tight, and handy!
This sleeve fits the 13.3 inch macbook perfectly. Its great for slipping on and throwing it in another bag without worrying about getting scratched. There was a bonus about it that I had no idea as well. Once you slip your notebook inside, there is a small "tuck corner" you can encase the edges into so it will be stable. Hard to explain, but its simply part of the inner material that helps it stay even more stable. A great buy!GREAT SECOND SKIN
THIS SECOND SKIN IS PERFECT FOR UR NEW MACBOOK IT FITS LIKE A GLOVE THE TEXTURE IS GREAT I WILL NOT STAIN UR LAPTOP AND AFTER AL THE INVESTMENT ON UR NEW MACBOOK U WANT TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF UR BABY AND THIS IS PERFECT TO PROTEC WHEN U TRAVEL O GO TO SCHOOL IT'S JUST PERFECCTEasy portable macbook cover
The price for the product was really good, and it protects the macbook from scratches and other stuff. The material is soft but protective, perfect for putting the laptop in a backpack or bag. It is only meant for the laptop so charger and stuff will have to be put elsewhere. It's worth the price, so get it!Simple sleeve that is good to go.
The internal flap makes sure your Mac will not slip out when you unzip your sleeve. It doesn't have a handle, but that's what I like about it. Great product for the price! Not bad but not great either
Very good protection sleeve for the Macbook but is not a carring case. No handles or strap. As other have reported the zipper is protected from scratching your laptop.Nikon Backpack for DSLR, Lenses, and Laptop

Great Backpack for Serious Beginners or Semi-Pros
Great if you only have one camera and a couple of lenses. It is well designed and easy to use, though serious professionals might find it a bit small.Excellent camera bag.
This is a great camera bag if you are looking for a bag that will haul your camera and a laptop. Although it is branded by Nikon, it is identical to one made by Case Logic (less the yellow colors). I have a Nikon D80 that fits snug with the lense (18-135mm) on. I've rearranged the compartments to fit my gear better. This will not hold all my camera gear, but is great for hauling my laptop, camera and a few accessories on the plane. It's pockets and compartments are functional and well made. Only feature I might add is to make it lockable. Definately recommended.Nikon Backpack
Great bag for my equipment... very convenient and well padded for protection! I highly recommend it! The price was very low...Paying for the name brand
If you are looking for a medium sized camera backpack, then this bag will suit well. Performance wise, this bag has decent padding and provide adequate protection. The only gripe I see is that if you have more then one long telephoto lens, this bag will get cramp pretty quick. Also, this bag is overpriced and you'd be paying more just for the Nikon name. This bag is nothing more then a re badged Case Logic SLRC-5 bag. Buy the Caselogic and save yourself a few bucks.First Camera Case
I got this product to use as a Camera Case for my Nikon D60. It serves its purpose. I went with this model so that I would have additional storage spaces for lenses, as well as an option to carry around a laptop in the bag. For these purposes it works great. I've had it almost 2 months and have already broken one of the straps, however I blame myself for this. Stepping on it while trying to lift it up doesn't work out so hot. The only reason I gave this product a 4 out of 5 stars is because when ordering it, I felt somewhat mislead by the 'waterproof' tag. The part that holds the SLR is indeed waterproof, as you can see by the zipper. However none of the other pouches on the bag have this zipper seal, so I doubt they are water proof. Also even though each compartment is separate the only thing that really keeps them apart from one another is Velcro. In my opinion this hardly makes the bag waterproof. If water were to leak in any one of the pouches, it could make its way to any other pouch.Monday, July 21, 2008
Belkin Neoprene Notebook Sleeve for 15.4-Inch Laptop (F8N048-BR)
![]() |
Modern, hip, functional and simply good!
First this is a simple thin sleeve made of neoprene, it is sponge like, soft, durable with a light amount of padding and will fit the majority of 15.4 thinner laptops very easily with a little room to spare. I know it will fit all the Sony, HP, and Gateway 15.4 standard laptops. I ordered the red and black and really like the color combo over the otehr few choices and this will show the least amount of dirt over time being it is black on the outside. This neoprene is easy to dust/wipe off from time to time as needed. Pay attn when ordering as they have a 14.1, 15.4 and 17 inch sleeves in the same color choices but it is easy to get them confused with the exact sku number and or using the drop down to select color. It seems that the price varies a little depending on the color. In my case I bought this for a Sony 15.4 notebook and it fits very well with some room to spare. I bought it to keep the dust off the laptop when turned off and not being used and for when I do carry it in my back pack. This sleeve will allow me to put things in the same pocket in the backpack, messenger bag, or for a woman with a large purse. I would NOT suggest just carrying the laptop around in the sleeve by itself as it has no handles and it is only very lightly padded so drop protection is minimal at best. If you are a student and have a lighter weight laptop and are just going class to class on campus with a book or two you probably could carry it under you arm with your books but again you risk the chance of dropping it or someone knocking it out of your grasp. I would recommend this product more as a dust cover and scratch deterent especially when carrying your laptop in other bags (backpack, messenger, purse) with various loose items. Simple too, order it, try it, and it if doesn't fit or you don't like it, return it via Amazon with no issues as they will provide you with the return label and postage as they do with virtually any product you order from them.Excellent Laptop Sleeve
Neat Laptop Sleeve--fits my 15.4 laptop perfectly-- even with the little Nano minature receiver attached into the USB port. Plan on carrying it inside my carryon suitcase.Excellent Product
[...] It fits in my wife's handbag, and she can carry her laptop around, without announcing she is carrying one. She just seems carrying her (rather big) handbag. The zipper is behaving good so far, and the fabric promises to be washable, though not tried that yet. All in all, would recommend this product to anyone.Good Sleeve for the money
I have used the notebook sleeve for a little over a month now, and it has done its job well. My computer fits nicely inside, and the soft lining has not scratched the computer. The overall feel of the sleeve is plush, and I feel that it would protect from scratches, but would not be much of a protector if you dropped the laptop in this sleeve. My only regret is the fact that there is not place to put my power cord and mouse, but I purchased the sleeve so that I could put the laptop directly into my bookbag - I didn't want to lug around a "laptop bag," so I will be on the lookout for a small "accessory" bag to complement.Nice look, functional
I am very happy with this sleeve, I bought it for Toshiba Satelite 15.4" and it fits perfectly. Zip is of very high quality and colors (I ordered black-bordo) are so nice.Apple M9321G/B Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter
![]() |
It does the job.
This adapter does exactly what it's supposed to do - lets you hook a large desktop monitor up to your Mac laptop. No problems.Does what it's supposed to, but a bit short
This product works fine and does exactly what it's supposed to do---connects my Macbook to an external display. My only beef is that they could have made it full length so that you wouldn't need to use another another DVI cord with it.A Must Have for MacBook Owners
This adapter is a must have for any macbook owner. I use my macbook as a desktop system with a 20" lcd, wireless keyboard & mouse etc, around 90% of the time...the other 10% I just grab the macbook and go in the field to use it during consultations. It would be wise to also purchase the DVI to VGA adapter as well if your a road warrior. Having it in your laptop case is really great when you need to connect to a large display on-site, or even better when you need to plug into a projection system. Another reason is if your lcd goes out, you can always plug into a vga only monitor or LCD and not lose downtime. In conclusion, again, I would buy both the DVI to mini DVI and the DVI to VGA connectors. Both are manufactured by the same company and very durable, nicely designed products.24" imac connection TO external display
This will connect iMacs' SCREEN DISPLAY ONLY from iMac to t.v. or external monitor. NOT AUDIO. First of three items needed. 1) THIS ITEM from iMac mini dvi port connected to........ 2) IOGEAR GOLD-PLATED HDMI (F) to DVI-D DUAL LINK (M) ADAPTER (GHDMIFDVIM) . connected to....... 3) An HDMI TO HDMI cable. (This series of connections assumes that your t.v. or . external display you are trying to link HAS a HDMI input connection available) 4) Now to your external t.v. or monitors' HDMI connectionItem Fine, Available Direct
FYI, as of this writing, you can get this directly from Apple for $19.00 + $4 S&H. A better deal than shown here. Oh, and you'll probably need another cord for any practical use. I hooked it up w/ this Eforcity Black 2 Meter HDMI Male to DVI Male Cable and now can use my HDTV as a 2nd monitor. Very cool. Don't know why Apple doesn't just build in a regular DVI output or include this adapter. (Maybe to make more money?)Sunday, July 20, 2008
Crucial 1GB Upgrade Module- PC2700 DDR 333MHZ 200PIN SODIMM 2.5V CL2.5 UNBUFF NON-ECC
![]() |
great deal.
I bought 2 of these to boost my old Mac PowerBook G4 (15", 1.5GHz). They worked like a charm, it can now smoothly handle the latest Leopard Mac OS, as well as many applications simultaneously. I've had them working for 1 month now, and had zero problems. When I bought them, the Amazon price (about 50 bucks each) for these new RAM modules was almost half the price offered by the manufacturer's website. The service was superb, for 7 bucks I had them in my office (in USA) less than 48 hs latter. Be careful to select the right RAM for your particular model (mine is Aluminium, 15" screen and 1.5GHz), there are many on-line services that let you find out that.It works but that's not why I'm Giving it 5 Stars
Amazon's presentation of the chip was not 100% clear, and as a result, I wound up purchasing a chip that would not work in Apple computers. I contacted Crucial customer service. They pin-pointed the problem, and arranged for me to swap out the chip directly through them. The swap was done on a very timely basis, and the chip has worked flawlessly. Be careful before ordering for your Apple. Call Crucial before-hand if you're not sure.Great
Installed easily, booted up without any issues. Running Compaq Presario V2000. Also note this is the same RAM as Crucial CT435935.CT12864X335 Not for Powerbook G4 1.25!
After many calls and online chats discovered that the only Crucial Ram compatible with these powerbooks is Crucial CT368079. I don't know about other manufacturers but with my memory I'm very finicky!Works great on IBM X31 laptop
I recently upgraded a friend's IBM X31 laptop with two of these (2x 1GB) and it works flawlessly (and fast!). Make sure it is seated fully in the expansion slot.Brand New Replacement PA-6 & PA-2 70W AC Adapter / Power Supply for Dell Laptops / Compatible Models - Dell Latitude CP CPi CPiA CPiD CPiR CPt CPtC CPtS CPtV CPxH CPxJ CS CSR CSX C400 C500 C510 C600 C610 C800 C810 / Dell Inspiron 2500 2600 2650 3700 3800 4000 4100 5000 7500 8000 8100 / Replaces Dell Model and P/N Model # AA20031, P/N 9364U PA-6, PA-2 Family

Logitech 961400-0403 Quickcam for Notebooks Deluxe

Impressed
This product is exactly what it says it is. The picture quality is pretty impressive for such a small camera. I have read many who dislike the clip but it fits fine on my Dell 1505 laptop. I would recommend this to anyone.Great little camera!
Wow, this camera is even smaller than I expected. It works well. The manual focus takes some getting used to, but overall it's a great little camera for the price.good small camera for your laptop
I really like this camera. The price was right, the quality very good and easy for me to set up and use. I use this often and have for months without a glitch. All good.Terrible image
You get what you paid for! I saw all the good reviews and thought that maybe technology went down in price and can offer a good camera for that price.... not such chance. The image is terribly grainy, I can hardly recognize myself on the screen, it's that bad.Great camera, good price.
I got this camera through a consumer reports website, it was one of their best picks. Fantastic image resolution!, I don't use it every day but so far it works great, although I had some problems between their software and the Windows Vista, I don't know which one is to blame. The camera it's a great product though.Apple AC Adapter A1036, M8482 For Ibook, Titanium, Powerbook G4, G3

Apple Powerbook Adapter
I am very pleased with the item. I had a hard time finding it at Apple. This type of adapter has a tendency to break easy but it is the only one available for the Powerbook G4. I was very happy with the price of the item. Thank you!MISLEADING ITEM DISCRIPTION
WHEN I READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION AND VIEWED THE PHOTO OF THE ITEM IT MISLED ME TO BELIEVE THAT I WAS PURCHASING THE APPLE MODEL "BRICK" AC PLUG. WHEN IT ARRIVED IT WAS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE.THE ADAPTER THAT WAS SENT WORKS WITH MY COMPUTER HOWEVER IS A KNOCK OFF BRAND. BUYER BEWARE! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT PLUG MADE BY APPLE DO NOT BUY THIS,!Beware
This product says it works with Powerbook G4s. Not true, this is a 45W adapter Powerbook G4s need a 65W adapter.Adapter review
This adapter for the Powerbook G4 worked for its purpose. I bought it for a friend, and he was able to get connected efficiently.iBook G4 Power Adapter
Exact same power adapter as from the Mac Store, but much cheaper. I destroyed mine accidentally, and this one works exactly the same and arrived quickly, saving me the trouble of dealing with a dead battery and no computer. It's a great replacement.Belkin A3L791-S 3-Foot RJ45 CAT 5e Snagless Molded Patch Cable (Blue)

Great cable
I needed this cable after buying a second computer and a router. I only needed a short cable and this 3-footer worked perfectly. These cables are tops in any size
I bought these Belkin cables. They are very nice quality. They seem heftier than a lot of the other cables. My system analyst neighbor mentioned that he prefers to buy the 1000 foot roll. He runs them to wall outlets, then uses the 7 foot or 14 foot snap in cable from the wall to the PC. That way, you don't have to buy a 40 dollar crimping tool. <br>You can't solder these cables. They require a metal to metal contact, and lead-solder doesn't qualify. Also, it is critical to keep them spiraled, all the way up to the end. Even when attaching, instructions call for twisting them right up to the connection. <br>Since the tech instructions, tell you to keep them down to under 350 feet, these cables, whether they are long or short, are in the right lengths. <br>I know Amazon doesn't print prices in their reviews, but they have the local major chain office supply stores beat hands down. The 50 foot roll was half again as much locally. <br>These are the Category 5e cables. They give you a better return feed, which results in better overall performance. So insist on 5e instead of just 5. I initially bought some wall plates from (a nation wide electrical supply store) that were Category 3, then I returned those for the snap in option Category 5. Those were returned also, when I went to (a nation wide building supply center)... (of all places to go networking) and they had the complete Leviton line of 5e accessories. <br>If I had to do it over again, I would still buy the Belkin 50 footers. I don't want to have a 500 foot roll of ethernet cable hanging around. <br>These are tops. Gold plated connectors, Snag free ends, that protect that little lock in tab on the ends. You know the frustration of unsnarling a phone wire, out of a wiring mess, and the little tab bends over backwards, never to work properly again. Well Belkin built twin arches over the sides to prevent just that. Way to go. Highly recommended, good stuff, for a good price.Does its job-5 Stars
No problems so far; does its job.(if you are setting up a wireless network, get windows XP. 1 click and you're set up.)Great Cable
Littly pricy, but a great cable. You will plug this in and never get another, so why not get it? You may want a longer one though, I just use this from my cable modem to my router.Love Belkin cable
If you want solid, well constructed cable that you are never going to have to think about again then Belkin is for you. I've never had one problem.Friday, July 18, 2008
HP 2133-KX870AT 8.9" Mini-Note PC (C7-M 1.6 GHz Processor, 2048 MB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, Vista Business)
![]() |
mini wid da hemi .....vrrrrmmmmm
i have tried way to many umpc's or small wifi tablets. some i have enjoyed for their size and connectibility. especially the nokia 8110? Anyway this is the "mini note" not too big and not too small as someone once told me. I am using it to type now, lounging on the couch with the dog and i can move around, get up and down and do what i want without worrying about the unit. and my fingers feel at home on the large keyboard with large flat keys that must be only barely smaller than a regular laptop. Those two things were most important to me. even though my laptop is very portable or even though things like the Jornada were perfect 7 years ago for what you could expect, this is small, light, sleek, smart and intelligent design. It has great speed and memoryand I actually like windows vista. Before, I have always sold my umpc. I had the current little sony that is cute for two handed action, i tried a nice small asus that ran on linus? and it was nice but i just didnt make the transistion and it was still bigger and not as slimline as this HP. I originally priced it on HP's site where I could do more of the building but I don't do that stuff or read about processors and memory and details. I just want a super convenient computer for writing and for wifi access that i can carry as easily as my mobile phone without giving up the comfort of a laptop keyboard and windows. (never thought i would say that) (windows...) but i got what i wanted and all i had to do was 1-click buy and with the Preferred Membership, had it next day for 3 bucks or something. So for me this was a dead on perfect machine. oh --and the battery life seems good. which is another great thing. and it cleans up at night, feeds the cat and waters the plant before doing the dishesMachine is nice, SUSE a bad choice
I love the machine size, keyboard and display. The SUSE Linux as installed is a very limited version and appears to require a service fee to maintain and upgrade. The wireless does not work. An external USB drive does not auto mount and there is no sdb entry in the /dev directory. HP dos not include an install disk as is required to install additional software. Example: gimp and locate are not included in the as delivered install. Yes I can call HP for an install disk -- but I have no time for going through their phone mail etc. My plan is to purchase an external USB DVD drive, blow away SUSE and install Ubuntu. Bottom line this machine shows a lot of promise. My advise is do not buy one unless you are comfortable with either putzing with SUSE and paying their subscription fees or installing another option like Ubuntu from scratch. --- One added note -- The HP mini-note users guide is unreadable under linux due to the extensive use of "\" rather than "/" for the directory symbol. To me this implies that the product was rushed to market without sufficient quality control and feedback from test users. [...]Love it
Wow this thing is amazing. I have to admit that the processor is a little slow and the initial set up took about an hour but for its size it is a great PC. I haven't had any trouble playing video with it. It doesn't have a optical drive so if I want to add programs i have to load them on a thumb drive or from my home wifi network. I have a pocket pc that I payed 750 for and it runs Windows Mobile 2005 and has 1 gig storage with a storage card so this PC just amazes me with full Vista and 120 gigs. I love it. However if price is a concern and you are looking for a primary PC you might want to look for something with a faster processor.Vista is too much for this
With all of the coverage about poor Windows Vista performance on conventional (aka more powerful) hardware, it is surprising the anyone would think that an ultra-portable form-factor could run it successfully. Other ultra-portables from ASUS and others are shipping with far leaner and more stable operating systems like Windows XP or Linux. I love this form factor, but we're a long way from ever seeing Vista run well on any of the units in this class.Nearly perfect (for its intended purpose)
Firstly, this review is being written on the 1.6Ghz, HP2133 Mini Note with 2Gb RAM and Vista Home Basic (which was installed at the factory). I have also read the myriad comments in the other reviews about poor CPU performance and warm operation. Therefore, I'll avoid similar statements, only to say that I have also noticed these issues under certain circumstances. Nevertheless, I have turned off most of the useless bells and whistles in Vista and customised the OS to work adequately for the tasks I perform. And what I do isn't necessarily trivial. I have Office 2007 installed and it works fine to write university assignments and work reports, etc. Word, with the screen set to "page width" view is readable and as functional as my desktop. I also installed Adobe CS3. Yes, it can be slow at times, but it performs well enough to get the job done (using InDesign, Photoshop and occasionally, Dreamweaver). However, I understood when I bought the Mini Note, that it was not designed for multimedia production, but more for multimedia presentation and for basic computing. It is NOT a desktop replacement and was never intended to be. The more I use my 2133, the more I love it. That doesn't mean I haven't noticed some negative issues (other than those highlighted in other reviews). I'll outline these below. I won't comment on the touchpad, because I rarely use it. Most of the time, I use the Mini Note on a desk or on my briefcase (placed on my lap), so I plug in a laptop mouse. I would do this with ANY laptop or notebook. However, the Mini Note does allow for more space to use a mouse than a conventional laptop. Once I have finished using the Mini Note, it fits in my briefcase with all my other stuff. Talking of placing the Mini Note in a briefcase; I am astonished that there isn't a case or bag for it. Most laptop bags are too big and would defeat the purpose of buying the Mini Note. As a result, I use a cloth bag I got with a mixer tap (faucet) I bought for a renovation. It is the perfect size to protect against scratches and marks. This is not to say the nice brushed aluminium (aluminum) case is susceptible to scratches; it's not, I just like to protect my equipment. The Mini Note's screen hinge and battery design prevents any connectors from being located at the back of the unit (where I'd like them). Hence, all the connections are on the left and right sides of the machine. I usually plug the notebook mouse into the left USB port and run the cable around the back of the Mini Note to the right side. This keeps the cable out of the way and gives me more room on the right for the mouse. This is OK if I am working off the battery. But when the Mini Note is connected to mains power, the huge power plug that sticks out the right side is quite annoying and can get in the way of the mouse. HP, take note; please redesign the next series to have an "L" shaped connector to keep it out of the way. Some other reviewers mentioned the lack of battery life. I agree with this, too. Nevertheless, there are configuration tweaks you can apply to help maximise battery life. In the BIOS I turn off the hardware I don't regularly use, such as Bluetooth, LAN, Express card, web cam, etc. If I need them, I just turn them back on. Now, the screen; I love it. At 1280x768, it is bright and sharp, therefore, usable. Yes, it presents some text and menus in tiny fonts, but at the distances most people would use this machine, the screen is readable. Most web sites fit within the browser view port without horizontal scrolling. I'd prefer this over the offerings from other UMPC manufacturers. I know I said I wouldn't mention the temperature issues, but, I feel compelled to state that after an hour or so spent writing this review (I was distracted by a phone call) the Mini Note is hardly warmer than the ambient room temperature. Of course, this is just running Word 2007. But, as far as I am concerned, this is the sort of thing the Mini Note is designed for; simple productivity tasks. Additionally, one reviewer stated that the CPU fan runs flat-out all the time. He obviously missed the setting in the BIOS that lets you turn this "feature" off. Normally, the Mini Note runs very quietly, as is the case with mine right now. Although, I must admit that twice now, when waking from "sleep" mode, the fan in my Mini Note seemed to get stuck on full speed. A reboot fixed this, which implies it is an OS problem, not the hardware. What would make the Mini Note perfect? OK, a faster CPU would definitely be welcome. Secondly, the 225mm (8.9") screen is fine; however, the lid has a lot of wasted real estate. After moving the speakers, it could accommodate a screen 50mm (2") larger (275mm or 11"). Even at the same resolution, this would make the Mini Note considerably better. That seems to sum up all my main thoughts on the Mini Note. But suffice to say, after another hour using it, I love it even more. Highly recommended.PEGASUS from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Backpack

Built like a Swiss Army Knife
I never really got into the Knapsack thing until this new job and both my counter parts have them. I went ahead and sprung for one and just made the transition over to it. It is very well made and the storage space is well thought out. You definitely get what you pay for. I am an IT eng and carry my laptop, some cables, my notepads, and the convenience of throwing this over your shoulder and having everything self contained in one device is very convenient and comfortable. I don't review much here so hope this helped.Sturdy outside, poor and small insides
This bag looks solid and it is indeed made of strong materials on the outside (which also makes it a bit on the heavier side). The inside, though, looks like cheap nylon. None of the inner compartments have elastic trims, so they just kind of sag if they're empty. Interior space design needs to be more efficient. The 2-compartment concept makes this bag very poor on storage space. I can barely fit any more than my laptop and gym gear. I used to get a ton more stuff in my old eBags backpack (which is actually smaller and lighter). No, I don't think I would go for this next time around. Problem is that there aren't that many backpacks for a 17 inch laptop.100% Functional
This has to be the best laptop backpack I have ever found. You will not find another with better comfort and functionality. No matter what you need to carry with you, it will support it. I would recommend this backpack to anyone looking for a laptop backpack.Very Satisfied
The Swiss Gear computer backpacks by Wenger are without peer as far as I've seen. This is my second pack made by them, the first one being designed for a 15.4" laptop. This time I needed one that would accomodate a 17" HP and the Pegasus fit the bill perfectly. I liked that this particular model fits closer to the back than others I had looked at. There is room for the computer, it's power supply, typical portable office materials, your thumb drives, blank CD/DVD media and other small things without the bulk of also offering room for things you would carry in an overnight bag. The styling is appealing. The strenght and comfort of the shoulder straps is as good as it gets. Also the compartments (internal and external) are as well thought out as you are likely to ever find. From what I can tell, they seem to be very similar on all SwissGear computer backpacks. I tried to find a competitor with this quality and couldn't. They are priced very well considering the quality of materials, construction and design.Great Backpack
Great backpack. sometimes the zippers stick but I'm not worried about the zipper quality. Everything is very good I am very happy with it.Belkin 17-Inch Messenger Bag (Jet/Cabernet)

Perfect computer bag
It's lightweight and protective. It's convenient and fashionable. There are plenty of pockets for all of your stuff and a plush section to put your laptop. The colors offered are much better than your cookie cutter black ones. You will appreciate the wide strap because it distributes the weight well and is very comfortable. Truly, this bag is everything I wanted in a bag and at a reasonable price.Belkin 17" Messenger Bag
Esta es una buena compra para Laptops de 17", es ligero y de textura que protege el laptop.A decent 17 inch notebook bag
This Belkin 17 inch messenger notebook bag is well made and is capable of accomodating an extra large 17" notebook computer, like mine. I have a monster size 17" notebook computer, an ASUS G2K 17" notebook that measures 16.2" x 12.5" x 1.9", most 17" bags and sleeves will NOT fit these dimensions. I am very pleased that this Belkin bag does the trick, and it is capable of fitting my notebook, even with the removable interior bottom cushion kept in place. Also, there is enough room to shove a second smaller notebook, say a 15" or a tablet PC if one wants to in the other internal sleeve. The padding is fairly decent, although I would not want to drop test this on a hard floor. I would say the padding can protect the laptop fairly well from minor banging and bumps, but this bag will not protect your computer from anything excessively stupid. This bag has a good 3 inch shoulder strap, one draw back is that it can only be adjusted for length slightly, that issue does not bother me. Also, there is a nicely padded 1.5" handle, so this can be carried like a briefcase without gouging your hand. For the price, this is a very good value, with plenty of side pockets, pouches and hidden tuck aways. This is an excellent product and if you want anything that's even slightly better, be prepared to spend a lot more money.Belkin 17-Inch Messenger Bag Review
This bag is great. We use it for our 17" Dell Laptop and it fits perfectly, with room to spare. There is a divider inside so we put the laptop on one side and miscellaneous papers/notepads on the other side which also features smaller pouches. The front zipper pocket is handy for important travel documents that require immediate access (plane tickets, etc.) Inside of that pocket is also a pouch where our passports fit perfectly. It comes with an additional pouch for the power cord which fits nicely inside the main zippered section. We are very pleased with this product.Great quality and durability... not much on style
Materials used for making the bag is durable and of good quality but the style isn't as good as u expect.... works for me though....Thursday, July 17, 2008
SIMRAN 200 WATTS STEP DOWN CONVERTER MODEL SMF-200 FOR TRAVELLING OVERSEAS
![]() |
Worked fine and not too bulky
If you are going to Europe and want a step-down converter, this will do the trick. I used on my trip to Spain. It's not as big as others. I used it to charge my camera & iPhone and it worked great. My girlfriend also used it for her hair straightener and that worked fine as well. Other girls on my trip used a simple adapter and ended up frying their straighteners and/or burning their hair. So ladies, make sure you buy a converter and not a simple adapter! :)Apple MacBook Pro MB134LL/A 15.4" Laptop (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)

Don't be an idiot!
Don't buy the new MacBookPro's from Amazon because based on the prices I just saw, they are less expensive in the Apple store or online. Plus you cannot get any corporate and/or school discounts here (with the Mac and Apple Care warranty). Otherwise, I have two MacBookPro's (a 15" and a 17") and an iMac...all great systems and only about a year old. You will not be disappointed, especially if you're coming from the dark era of the PC...no more memory problems, system lockups, and blue screen of death. What's great, you can use Bootcamp (included free with your Mac OS DVD) to partition your Mac HD and create a boot drive to install a 32-bit Windows OS. I'm running Vista Ultimate (for school) on my iMac and MacBookPro 17"; when you need Windows, simply reboot your Mac, hold down the Option key, then select the Windows OS drive. It's that simply. Updates are easy! Every week the system will automatically search for ALL updates, including your applications and then alert you of what is available. This saves you the hassle of having to search each vendor's site looking for updates, patches and so forth. Lastly, Widgets...just a waste of time really but the young kids and teeny-boppers really get into useless "gidgets and gadgets" that serve no purpose.Great Product......Love Apple
This was my first transition to a Mac from using windows based PC for most of my life. This is a super user friendly computer that has tons of hardware and software to do whatever you like. Though I am just getting to know the in's and out's of the macbook world, I can already tell that I will be an Apple fan for life. The new Leopard OS X is by far the best OS that I have used. Queit, portable and is just sleek looking. What else can I say......I love this MACBOOK PROGreat for Business Travel
Fantastic Notebook. Switched from PC, and what a joy. The small learning curve is worth it. This notebook is Quality. Installed Parallels to run SolidWorks under Windows - and it works great in full screen mode. Have been on the road with this notebook for nearly a month, and it is a joy. So glad I am not traveling with my PC.A fantastic little computer with so much power, elegance and style for research and graduate student life
It's now eight days since I got my new MacBook Pro after more than 4 months reading and searching to get convinced enough to do that move, and pew I did it :) Let's start with the hardware specifications, it has 15.4 inch widescreen with (LED backlight technology) this extra-awesome hyper saturated colors. (I read a few articles about LED backlighting and it differs from the old CCFL screens, you can read more about that here http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/06/macbook-pro-backlight-comparison-led-vs-ccfl/ ). And it has an Intel 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo processor with 4 megabytes L3 cache, 250 GB 5400RPM SATA (low-noise) disk, 5 hours-long battery and Airport Wireless card that supports 802.11n technology with awesome reception accuracy and iSight camera. The most astonishing thing for now is the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard 64bit, AWESOME operating system, and I can really understand now why apple always said that it's the most advanced operating system in the world, they are right, it's. :) it's a very well designed for a great user experience and you'll see many snapshots in the next few posts and well. it has more than 300 new features over the previous version "Tiger 10.4 and the main thing you'll notice about mac is that it's a REAL FAST. The great news is that most of the well known and famous applications I needed are available for mac, like Microsoft office and it's open source clone open office, adobe creative suite 3, yahoo messenger, MSN messenger and iChat works as an awesome jabber chat client. Also, it's really fast. I use it mostly for music, internet, pictures, movies, homework pretty much what everybody uses a computer for. Also, I use it for my research, extensive statistics work and various medical work, and it works great iLife is awesome and so is leopard (find out at apple.com) like when you turn on your pc it has load and load and load then when the desktop finally pops up then if you click on something it takes like 1/2 an hour to open up on this laptop it loads and and when the desktop shows you click something and it actually opens like its supposed to I have been using pcs all my life and i just got fed up with them. It is very nice computer to use especially during presentations (Apple Keynote is Awesome, especially, its presenter mode). Spotlight is very effective tool for searching for papers. Also, there are limitless possibilities and solutions for scientific purposes. Finally, Advantages: 1- Very Fast. 2- Reliable computer. 3- Can run windows and mac osx applications (I use VMWare as a virtual machine). 4- Lots of tools for your research (example ofr nice software for research: Sente, Papers, Endnote, Yep, ...etc). 5- Stylish. 6- Perfect Screen. 7- Good Battery Life. 8- Durable (I dropped it twice). 9- Nice for chatting and communication (It's isight integration is flawless). 10- Perfect software and hardware integration. Disadvantages: 1- Needs more RAM (At least 2 GB Ram). Finally, It is a perfect laptop for a graduate student for the price.Macbook
Nice machine. The first one we purchased had a problem with the screen, something called an inverter was loose and the screen was dark all the time. We haven't had any issues with this one. The screen quality, and the charger connection (magnetic) are especially nice.Crucial 2GB 667MHZ DDR2 Sodimm

Excelente Memoria para MacBook
La estoy usando en un slot de mi Macbook en Dic 07...todo bien hasta ahora...Does the job
I usually look at memory parts as either they work or don't work, beyond that technical specifications will dictate the performance... This item works nicely and does what a 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SODIMM is supposed to do.Works great!
Bought this to put in my Asus Eee laptop...since I've had experience with Crucial/Kingston/Corsair & had never heard of OCZ before seeing the brand featured here for this laptop. Sure it cost a few more dollars than others...but I knew what I would be getting & was not disappointed.Great speed!
I ordered two of these and they were on their way within one business day. Works great, no issues or complaints.Works fine
What can I say - I put it in my computer, it worked, now my computer's blazing fast (it's a MacBook, FYI).Wednesday, July 16, 2008
Kensington 64343 MicroSaver DS Notebook Computer Lock with Keys (PC/Mac)
![]() |
Easy to use and feels sturdy
The lock works exactly as described, hence the 5 stars. Not a lot of competition for high quality notebook locks, so I feel like I was paying more than I wanted to due to lack of options. I selected the DS version because I wanted the flat keys, however, the keys are still a little large to keep on your regular keychain. The lock appears to accommodate various mounting slot depths, but this seems to add a little slack (filled in by an integrated soft rubber mount). I wonder if this slack might allow for additional stress on the security slot for thinner skinned notebooks. I use mine to secure 20" LCD panels to their desks. In spite of the minor issues mentioned, I'd purchase again.Security
Makes me feel very secure in my dorm room. Would hate having to buy two laptos and only own one. Very secure and sturdy contraption.Secure but Tricky
It took a lot to get this to work. I read the instructions for how to get it to lock, and it still wasn't working. I had someone else try, and it still wasn't working. In the end, I brought it to the store and they made it look easy. Its easier to get it to work laying flat then holding the security port up. I should have figured... The actual mechanism seems to work by putting the T shaped bar into the standard security port on the laptop, and then the key rotates the little pins so the bar cannot turn. The other end gets looped around something else. It's easier to lock without the rubber around the end, but then it will chafe the metal around the port. My laptop (Gateway P-6860FX) has some wear around the port from all my amateur attempts to get it working. Now that I have it working, it locks securely, provided I can find something equally secure to lock it to.Doesn't Work, No Help From Company, Will Never Buy From Them Again
The description says that this product has a "patented T-bar locking mechanism that attaches to the standard Kensington security slot found in 99% of notebook and computer devices", yet it did not fit my Dell Latitude. Checking the online manual I finally found the list of products it is supposed to fit (VERY difficult to find on the Kensington web site, which kept forwarding me to the company's UK site). My Dell model was listed there. The Customer Service rep I spoke with told me that it would fit my model BUT I had to buy an adapter piece. The product description clearly states that it fits my laptop - no mention of an adaptor. After going round and round with the rep, who was clearly reading from a canned script and did not seem to comprehend the difference between the written description and what he was telling me, I gave up and said I would buy the adapter but that I needed it right away. No dice. He said they could not expedite it (even at my expense) and it would take 7-10 business days. I was leaving for Europe in two days. The product is unusable and the customer "service" was useless. I was able to pick up a similar product at the airport before departing; it worked fine and cost half as much. I will NEVER buy a Kensington product again.NOT compatible with Inspiron 1520
This lock does not fit in an Inspiron 1520. We also have an Inspiron 1505, however, and it works perfectly well with that notebook. Product gets 4 stars for quality (I would like a better-designed key).Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Belkin F5L008-BRN Mouse Trap Mouse Pad
![]() |
Great invention
I love this mouse pad. It has a nice size (I have a regular sized optical mouse, not one of those micro mice) and it fits perfectly. It takes a couple of minutes for the pouch to flatten after you open it, but I don't find that to be a problem. Also, it has a ring of an adherent material on the brown side so the pad does not slide while you use it, and for me it works great. I think its a great combination of concepts. I carry my mouse and my jump drive and other stuff in it Great product (and nice colors)I Would Recommend This Product
Was just reading about this and I thought it was a clever idea. So I bought one that matched my Belkin Neoprene laptop sleeve. I must say that I really like this product. The idea of having your mouse pad wrapped around your mouse is great. And it has some anti-slide stuff on the outside that keeps it from sliding all over when it's being used as a mouse pad. Great product!!Mouse Trap Mouse Pad
Very clever little foldup mouse pad/carrying case. Works as advertised. Quality zipper.I find it extremly handy.Great little accessory
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/review/R9GTO6YSCI21U">Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R9GTO6YSCI21U</a> Here's my review of Belkin's Mouse Trap. I'll show you a bit how it works and tell you why I like it. Simple as that. Belkin F5L008-BRN Mouse Trap Mouse PadA Must Have Item
My Mom came for a visit and brought this interesting gadget with her: The Mouse Trap. I was so fascinated by it that I ordered one immediately for myself. It is a great thing to have especially if you have a laptop and use it in various places. It's a real nice material and folds up like a pouch. When it is folded up you can put your mouse in there and anything else you can fit. In mine, I have my mouse, pens and pencils and a few of my memory cards for quick access. You unzip it when you use it and it is then your mouse pad. When it is unfolded, it has a ring on the bottom part (the part you put on the surface) that acts as a grip so you are not sliding all over the place while using your mouse. This item is a must have and I am so glad that I purchased it!ProTouch Keyboard Protector, MacBook Pro 15/17" - Arctic
![]() |
No more stain and dust on my keyboard.
I really love it. I think it's comfortable enough to type on this keyboard protector. Even if you might not see the keys clearly, the light of keyboard will help you. It fits perfectly with my macbook pro 15". One thing, the surface of keyboard will get higher, so it might affect the monitor when you close the it. However, I'm gonna take it off before closing monitor anyway.Good protection from sticky fingers
Overall, I like the protector. Other people have said it protects the keyboard from spills. While I can't vouch for that particular capability, I do think it protects the keys from sticky fingers. I like how it feels over the keys, too. I definitely would recommend this product.iSkin can't be beat
I've used the iSkin keyboard protector on my TiBook for years, and now on my MacbookPro. It is the *first* item I buy for any new laptop. Protects the keyboard and laptop innards without impacting keyboard use in any way whatsoever. Buy one.veru good, fits amost perfectly
I really love this protector, fits almost perfectly in my 15' 2008 macbook pro. I would love that the plastic was more transparent, but its ok. keyboard backlite works but not perfectly. I would buy anotherone if I lost it. A little expensive for the plastic they used, but I look a lot and I think its the best choice if you are looking in keboard protection. If you love your mac, and want to keep it around a long time, get this!
This is a fantastic silicon key protector... I will never fear spilling something on my keyboard again... (happened once to an old pc laptop). This arctic one has no lettering printed on it... great as my macbook pro has lighted keys for night, and you can read the letters just fine through it. Nothing to wear off with time. I have them on all my macs. Washing this is a snap. Just fantastic.AppleCare Protection Plan MA515LL/A for MacBook Pro (w/ or w/o display)

AppleCare Review
If you get a Mac laptop, in my case a MacbookPro; you need the AppleCare. Repeat, you need the AppleCare. Same goes for the iMac. I used to think you didn't need it for a tower; but I may rethink that. My only pick this time around is that the TechTools app that comes with it does not work "completely" with the 2.6 GHz model MBP. Whatever completely means. MikeAppleCare Protection Plan
Always buy this whenever I buy a laptop, since laptops have such an immense amount of micro engineering and gets a lot of mobil use. Worth every penney if anything goes wrong with the laptop. I've used AppleCare in the past and have never had a problem with them.A must have for laptops
I ma on my 3rd Apple laptop and AC has saved me more than what it costs with replaced Hard Drives, power supplies, disc drives and even a motherboard. I would never buy a laptop without AC.AppleCare Protection Plan MacBookPro
AppleCare Protection MacBookPro, This plan will give me security in knowing my new laptop will be covered past the original coverage provided with new equipment.Amazon Buyers Beware ..
Normally rating a product, based on anything other that performance, quality etc.. is something I don't do. My One Star rating is strictly based on Amazon's delivery time. Until you actually receive the package and activate it. the product is worthless. Amazon's delayed delivery and my stupidity are equally at fault. I had been saving this in my cart for months. I purchased my laptop at the end of May 2007. Not wanting to put out $299 before I needed to, I decided to order it from Amazon a month before my original warranty expired, not realizing that it could take TWO MONTHS to receive and activate it. Of course that would be too late. I called Amazon the other day when I realized this, and asked if the warranty would be in effect as soon as I ordered it and was told that I would have to wait the two months or so to receive it and then and only then could I activate it. Bummer because I have been thinking of ordering it since I first bought my laptop last year. This one is $50 less than the cost at the Apple store. I thought that I had plenty of time ... that error cost me an additional $50. Fortunately the Apple Store is only about 20 minutes from my house. The early bird catches the $50 worm. Order in plenty of time, probably at least 3 months in advance, just to be sure.Monday, July 14, 2008

![]() |
Sleek, simple, & works perfectly
If you're looking for a sleek looking, solidly built laptop stand (especially for a MacBook Pro), this really is a great product. I would have given it five stars, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it because of the price. Don't get me wrong -- this is a great product -- but $50 is well over what it should be. If you don't mind spending the extra cash, go ahead and get it -- you won't regret it.Goes very well with the MBP
The Mstand is a great very basic stand. It keeps with the apple minimalist design, has great fit and finish and does exactly what it is supposed to do, elevate the laptop level with a apple cinema display. I found its very close with the 23 acd, and a bit taller than the 20 inch. The only thing I found that was I was bit unhappy with was the fact the computer runs at exactly the same temp as before. Others previous said it acted as a heatsink and dropped the temp, this is not my experience at all. I know apples are designed to run hot, but I still prefer things to be a bit cooler.Cool Mac Stand
This stand looks like it could have been made by Apple. It mimics the sleek aluminum bases that you find on Apple Cinema monitors; is very substantial and looks good in my office.Exactly as advertised!
I use my macbook pro as my home machine and needed a stand to elevate the computer. After looking into several laptop stands and reading the reviews, I decided to go with this stand from Rain. This stand turned out to be exactly what I needed. It elevates the laptop to an ergonomic height, is sturdy, and has rubber pads so there is no chance of scratches. The brushed aluminum matches my MBP perfectly. There is even a cutout so you can get to the lid latch without raising the laptop off of the stand (some of the earlier pictures on amazon don't show this new updated feature). If you need to elevate your laptop and want a very well designed stand, this is the way to go!What I was looking for
I just received mine an hour ago. I normally don't write reviews for any product, but for this one I'll make an exception. I have a Macbook Pro 15'', and what I can say is that the stand is awesome, the hight and inclination are just perfect. I also bought the laptop stand by logitech (Alto-express) which I was not happy with, especially because the display was too far away and the inclination was not right. With the Mstand you can get your display closer and there is still room to push your external keyboard under the stand, something that you cannot do with others. My advice: if you are looking for a laptop stand, buy this one, specially if you have a Macbook Pro, it just match. Believe me, the price totally worth it.Sunday, July 13, 2008
Kroo 10961 Reversible Laptop Sleeve for Asus Eee PC 700/701/900 (Red/Black)
![]() |
Reversible Laptop Sleeve for ASUS Eee PC
This laptop sleeve is reversible. Red on one side and black on the other; which is great for matching your outfit or mood. It is made of neoprene shock absorbent material and is ideal for keeping your ASUS Eee PC free of scratches if you carry it in your bag or pocket. I have a computer bag that holds my work computer (15 inch IBM) and my play computer (ASUS Eee PC)in the sleeve. This neoprene sleeve is ideal for the extra cushioned protection in the bag and when I get it out of the bag before I set it up. The finish is perfect. The red part is the outside, while the black part is the inside and has a neat double stitching on the edges (the Kroo logo shows on both sides). This is the perfect affordable laptop sleeve for keeping your baby ASUS Eee PC safe while it is napping in your bag or pocket.Logitech Alto Express Notebook Stand
![]() |
Stylish
It accomodates my 15" Satellite in a very stylish way on my very cluttered desk. Leaves the screen at perfect height and secures the laptop in its place. I will surely recommend buying this product. This is the one to choose ... seriously
I was concerned from the product photo that the Logitech Alto Express Notebook Stand wouldn't raise my notebook high enough, so I was tempted to go for one of the adjustable stands. I am very happy I chose the Logitech. The angle could not be more perfect, the manufacturer obviously knew exactly what was ergonomically correct when they designed the stand, the center of my screen is exactly in the middle of my field of view. When in use, the stand basically disappears. Despite a ridiculously high price for a piece of plastic, it does exactly what it should, so to me it was worth the price. The adjustable stands I've seen are fussy and wobbly. In particular, the xbrand has small wheels that could send the notebook flying off the edge of the desk if it is accidentally bumped. Almost every other brand raises the front edge too high. Some, like the xbrand have trap doors you have to open to access front-mounted controls. I think many manufacturers take a simple concept and try to complicate it. That is one thing no one will ever pin on Logitech! This stand is a totally simple design. My home office is probably a bit stylish but I absolutely need functionality ... I work at my computer 12 - 14 hours a day. I hated using my notebook before, now with an HP wireless keyboard and mouse and the Logitech Alto Express Notebook Stand I hardly know I'm not using my desktop PC. I think this notebook stand is the winning entry. PROS: Perfect viewing angle, rock-solid support, looks beautiful CONS: Hey, it's a three-dollar piece of plastic with an insane profit margin, but I'd rather pay more for something that is perfect than something that misses the mark.Excellent purchase
Buying a laptop stand was recommended to me when I started working in my current office, and I am glad that I did. I bought this one because it was one of the cheaper options I could find, and I liked the way it looked. I am completely satisfied with this product, the only thing I would change if I could would be to make it adjustable height.good deal a little pricey
It's plastic, but it does it's job and does it well and looks clean. It is highly priced for what it contains, but compared to other gimmicky stands-- it's affordable.Good enough - got it in a deal
I use it on my desk for comfortable typing. Provides good air flow and looks classy. I did not want to spend $45 on other "branded" stands for my Macbook Pro. So got this one instead for $14 after MIR. But keep in mind, given the angle of this stand, there is no way you can use your laptop if you keep the laptop + stand on the floor. Overall, it's a decent product.Saturday, July 12, 2008
SYNERGY from SwissGear by Wenger Computer Backpack
![]() |
Does not protect well against strong rain
I had to replace the motherboard and memory chips after being caught in the rain without an umbrella. Never had this problem with previous backpacks. Otherwise nice backpack, seems sturdy. It has a lot of space without impacting the shape of the backpack. T.Good size
This bag has a lot of room for pretty much everything you would want to put in it from a computer related standpoint. There are tons of pockets and I can fit all of the things I need in it easily (and I carry around a lot of stuff). I have a 15.4" computer and it fits well in the bag, but it would be nice if the padding came all the way to the top of the computer rather than leaving the top couple of inches exposed. That's a minor complaint though. The padding on the straps and the back of the bag are great and make this bag very comfortable to carry around if you are forced to have it on your back for a while. It's a good bag for the price, it's solidly built, and it has lots of room for plenty of supplies.Buy this backpack!
I looked long and hard for a laptop backpack - I was tired of the standard laptop case that couldn't carry an apple or bottle of water. I found this backpack at an office supply store but it was MUCH cheaper through Amazon... I'm a 46-year-old exec who does a lot of business travel, so I've put this pack through the ringer. It's extremely sturdy and well-made (it's Swiss - what else would you expect), the zippers (all 11) are strong, and it's got some great features. I like the quick-access pocket at the top for keys, cell, etc., as well as the internal flap that holds it upright on the floor. The padding is excellent - very comfortable for that long haul across DFW!Decent bag
This is a good buy for the price. I've had this bag two years now and the seams are starting to unravel, but it's lasted good until now. My only other complaint is that it's quite heavy - add 10lbs to whatever load you are carryingwell designed backpack
I purchased this pack for a son going to college. I ended up using it for a couple of months myself. It is very designed and built. It has pockets everywhere. It has a surprising amount of padding on the back to allow comfortable carrying of a laptop and other papers. Zippers appear to be first quality. Only issue of concern it that the pack is smaller than the massive LL Bean packs that my HS kids now have. It will probably not hold a days worth of college books. But what it will hold, it will hold in comfort. Fits a 15 inch laptop well.Logitech Cordless Number Pad for Notebooks
![]() |
Useless for me...
I purchased this keypad thinking it would actually operate as a full-fledged numeric keypad (with num lock and cursor direction keys). The goal was to use it for entering data and moving around spreadsheets as I would a normal keypad. But, even more importantly, to use it from within my favorite terminal emulator on an OpenVMS system (which uses every key on the keypad to move around in the built-in editors). The latter works quite well with full-fledged USB plug-in keyboards. Anyhow, needless to say, without the number lock and cursor movement keys, this otherwise sturdy and apparently well-built keypad is a paper weight. I would give it zero stars, but apparently Amazon will not let me.Great!!!
Its just great!!! easy to use, commfortable and also looks nice... The best I've used so far. If only had a screen to use it as a calculator would be perfect.Gift
Purchased this as a gift for my daughter and she loves it. Had more features than she had requested and is so happy with it.Great addition
Using the number pad on my desktop has become second nature. Recently I have been using my notebook more and more, but when it came time to pay the bills, work a spreadsheet, or anything involving numbers, I was frustrated having to hunt and peck. The Logitech Cordless Number Pad is the perfect solution. The size is perfect, easily readable, nice portable case, and extra features, such as a button for internet, another to open Excel. With wireless, I can hold it in my hand and watch the screen. Very versatile; I would definitely purchase again.Excellent Keypad
After having looked forever for a bluetooth version of this, I decided to just go ahead and get this one. 20 bucks wasn't too bad. I actually really enjoy this piece of equipment. It's well built and feels very solid, and finished. I am happy, and the only reason it got 4 stars is because I would love a bluetooth version.Friday, July 11, 2008
Asus Eee PC 4G (7" Screen, 800 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Galaxy Black
![]() |
Giant dwarf
The 4G is a wonderful "take every-where computer" for a busy world. It has programs for everyone and Linux OS is simple to use and learn. I added 2gigs of memory and never look back. If you're in need of a note taker, photo keeper, email source and more look no further than the ASUS Eee PC 4G. It's a Winner !Cute! Awesome little computer
I was so excited to get the ASUS, got mine in pink, only had it for about a month now. This thing is SO fast on the internet, amazing! I have had a few incidents where it simply would not connect to wireless, which was a huge problem when it was times I was trying to use it for work. It was a bit weird using the tiny keyboard at first, I have large hands for a woman, but got used to it pretty well. I was so amazed that I could plug in my flash drive, edit a Microsoft Word doc, and save it. That was awesome, seeing that the ASUS does not have MS Office! If you're going to be out and about, be sure you charge the battery to full before you go. I'm not yet sure what max battery time I get because the times I have taken it out, I had not checked to be sure it was fully charged. I also purchased the matching mouse through Amazon, but the company who sold it charged way too much for shipping/handling (my mistake for being the sucker to pay it) and they didn't deliver in the promised time frame. I think you can get the matching mouse at Best Buy--do that! Overall, if you're looking for a lightweight on-the-go computer for basic internet, email, etc. this is cute, fun, and functional!Love it
Wow!! I cannot believe I was afraid of Linux. The computer is so simple to use, easy to carry and so convenient. My 7 year old figured it out in about 10 minutes. I am amazed at the size and haven't had any probelems with the size of the keyboard or mouse. Sometimes the size of the screen gets to me, I have to scroll around to see the full program, and then I realize that I can carry this in my purse and have it with me everywhere. I can live with a quick scroll.Problem w/ ASUS eee PC 4G WIFI (WPA-PSK)
Asus Eee PC 4G Surf (7" Screen, 800 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Galaxy Black]] Have a simple password, no characters, spaces, etc. Even older PC'c run great on this net, confused. Any suggestions, tried every permutation.Good Things Do Come in Small Packages!
This is not the pc if you want a standalone do everything PC. It is a PC that is built for the mobile traveler or business person. To get on the net fast and to maintain your personal or business contacts. My Asus PC has no problem accessing the free Wi-fi in my area. The Linux system is clean and very fast with very few crashes. Linux automatically recognizes sll of the USB add-ons that I have thrown at it and it boots up very fast. I am pleased with this lightweight and durable PC (Yes, I have dropped it a few times in its neoprene case and it still works!) I would recommend the Asus EEE PC at it's $399 price.Kensington Lift-off Portable Notebook Computer Cooling Stand - 60149
![]() |
Worth what I paid
This is an inexpensive item for a laptop stand. I only paid $19.99 and it is not worth more than that. Nice for occasional use like what I needed, but not durable for everyday use.Functional but uncomfortable
I bought this stand because I use my laptop while lying in bed and wanted something that would allow air flow to help cool the computer. One of the other reviewers indicated that this stand was perfect for my application, but I could not disagree more. First of all, the "hole" that is supposed to promote colling through air flow. In my opinion, the hole is too small OR they should have more holes spread out to accomodate the various fan locations on laptops. Secondly, there is not a lot of room for angle adjustment (the adjustment is very limited). And finally and most importantly, the hinges on the stand protrude so that they tend to "dig into" your stomach area when you are lying in bed or leaning back in a recliner. After a while it can get pretty uncomfortable, so you canot use it for very long (hope that makes sense). Overall I would say that it is a decent stand for use on a table, desk or on your lap in you are sitting up erect. If you plan on using this stand while reclining or lying down in bed, I woul pass on it (mine is on it's way back to Amazon). Hope this helps. KenGood Product, But Not Worth $20
I like the product and it does what it claims to do; but if you can find something similar for about $10 or less go for it. It's just two pieces of plastic on a hinge with, for lack of a better word, a little kick stand to give you two different heights. The price is the only reason that it did not get 5 stars. Then again maybe I'm just cheap. Lol.Kensington Lift-off Portable Notebook Computer Cooling Stand - 60149
I found the stand held my computer on my lap with no problems and definetly direct the heat from my computer away from me during use. I like the product very much and use it constantly each day.Get a lapdawg
This product is useless - get a lapdawg which is far superior and more versatileThursday, July 10, 2008
Logitech V20 Notebook Speakers
![]() |
Its alright
Overall a good speaker, but for the $[...] I can't tell. (I got a $[...]) rebate. Good speakers as long as you keep the volume under 70-75% of its capability after that the sounds is DISTORTED. Anyone looking for really high decibel stuff keep away.Buyer Beware
I purchased a set of Logitech's V20 speakers and for the first 3 weeks I owned them I thought they were great then they just quit working. I found if I removed and reinstalled the driver they would work for about 3 minutes then quit. The mute/un-mute works indicating that I am "talking" to the speakers but they do not reproduce any sound. Before you purchase these do a search using the keywords: "Logitech V20 speakers not working" and do some reading. Reading the Amazon reviews seem to indicate that not everyone is experiencing the same problem that I am, but, like I say, "Buyer beware!" ERKVery good speakers but with one issue
I've owned that pair of speakers for a bit more than one year. The sound quality of which is (most of the time) amazingly good given the physical size, the price, and being USB-powered. I'm connecting that pair of speakers through an external self-powered USB hub to a notebook PC. I'm not sure whether it's the notebook PC problem (I had changed to another self-powered USB hub already), I found that from time to time that pair of speaker would sound thin and tinny, losing all base and some mid-range. However, when I unplug and plug the speakers to the USB hub - during the PC and USB hub are on and running - all the base and mid-range would come back. By benefit of double on real cause of that trouble, and that the issue is not big, I'd still give 5 stars. These speakers are really worth the money
I inititally went out and got the Bose Companion 2 series II for my laptop that had seriously underpowered, embarassing speakers. But the sound came out as boomy and though the speakers did sound good I wasnt that impressed. They are slightly bigger than your average computer speakers as well so not that portable. Went back to Bestbuy returned them and got these. When I took the V20 out of the box I thought I had made a grave mistake. I thought that these looked too small to produce any decent sound, but then I plugged them in ........and what can I say except - THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The volume that these speakers generate is amazing considering the size. They are seriously powerful!. The sound comes across very crisp and clear and being USB, they pick up the complete digital signal. Make sure that your MP3 files are lossless and you are gifted with very crisp audio. They do distort and sound awful at higher volumes but the mid range -arnd 40% - 80% volume is when they are at their best. The bass is not thumpy but present and gives the punch as required. All notes low and high are delivered faithfully. All in all - THESE ARE AN AMAZING SET OF SPEAKERS and I just love them.good speakers for the price
I bought these speaker for my mother, who has a Mac Mini. I tested them on my MacBook, and the sound was good. Acceptable for what you pay for these things. But not great. My biggest gripe was that I would get intermittent cracks and pops through the speakers when playing music, but it may be due to an underpowered USB bus on my laptop, (I have not tested them with any other machines, so it could just be my computer). These things are designed to be easy to set up and use, as well as to travel, but I found them a little too big for bringing them along on a trip. And, as for the sound, you're better off with a non-USB speaker system for the absolute best sound quality. For what they'll do for my mom, though, who does not listen to music and will use them only with skype and general web surfing, they're good enough.Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Belkin 17-Inch Messenger Bag (Chocolate/Tourmaline)

Belkin 17" Messenger Bag
Materials used for making the bag is durable and of good quality but the style isn't as good as u expect.... works for me though....Awesome Laptop bag for my 17" Widescreen Dell
This is great bag. Lots of room, plenty of storage. Very Sturdy!! I wish there were other colors to choose from, that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise it is perfect. The interior is soft and protects well, it has plenty of storage for discs, pens, files, all that you need. I love it except for the color.HP Pavilion Artist Edition DV2890NR 14.1" Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 Processor, 3 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium)

Nice laptop...
The laptop is very powerful and handles Vista with no issues. The wireless N works great! 130 Mbps with full signal ;) The colors outside are Ok, I got used to them after a while, but the plastic shiny material is a fingerprints magnet. I still don't understand why they keep making the laptops like this. I was expecting better battery life and less weight. I'm kind of disappointed on these items. HDMI port works fine. Speakers are fine. It'd be nice to have a 3rd USB port instead of the Modem port (who needs it?) Anyway, for U$S 900 I'm happy with the HP Artist Edition. This laptop is amazing
A friend of mine (Isac Goulart) brought one this laptop for me on last May. It`s really amazing and works well (so far so good!!). It worths what I paid for it.Not bad for simple use...
I picked this up as the Kitchen Laptop.. It's not bad for her MSN Games, Office 2007 runs like a champ and all running on Vista.. The laptop does get a bit warm on the palm rests.. Only two USB ports on the right side.. It does however have a slick remote that will pop in the express bay and it does have a HDMI out.. Cons: Artist Design 2 USB Ports All connections on the sides of the latops, none on the back. Pros Everything else.Got the looks and also up to date....
First thing i would like say is it is a amazing laptop... Its worth the money you spend .... It has a amazing looking body and the designs on it is really state of the art. Well i just don't want to tell bout the way this laptop look like , but the specs is really amazing and you will pay really less amount of money for this kind of feature.. Its a laptop to have....Artsy does deliver!
Basically the HP Pavilion Artist Ed. does live up to its standards. I tried this by opening several applications such as the webcam, bluetooth, browser, and office doc. all at the same time and didn't experience any bugs or glitches. Only problem was when I installed silverlight or a particular application with an add-on (not so sure), my IE browser started to crash again and again everytime I'd try to exit/close it. Also, I was wondering why it didn't come with a 60-day trial version of Microsoft Office even though it was claimed to come as part of the package??? I had to then install it by myself through a microsoft website... Kinda hassle don't ya think? Overall, I'd have to say it packs a punch for it's price and is travel friendly since it doesn't overheat quickly or weigh much.Tuesday, July 8, 2008
Belkin F3U133-06 Pro Series Hi-Speed USB Cable (Six-Feet)
![]() |
It's a cable; it works
Not much to say since it's just a USB cable. I ordered it, it arrived, and it works. I plugged one end into my computer and the other end into my printer and lo & behold I can now print things from my computer, just as you might expect. It does what it's supposed to do with no problems, so five stars. Too bad everything can't be that simple. What is It?
I had no idea what this cable was because I found it in my drawer one day, I thought it was the VCR cable and I tried to hook it up to the TV and VCR one day and nothing happened except the reception on my TV went bland and empty.Great value
Hard to beat the price on this item, needed USB cord for my Canon printer to hook up to new Dell PC with Vista. No problems at all, works fine.wrong information
This cable is being wrongly recommended to be used with the Wizcom Superpen translator, but there is no way you can use it because the scanner slot is differentWhim zam zimmee-- it's a USB 2.0 cable what can I say?
This particular USB cord is nice because of the plastic molding around high stress areas. (like all the Belkin stuff I've seen) The molding is it's most unique feature. It's well made and it works with hubs, printers, USB Hard Drives. Belkin is a good name (but usually priced for the retail market) I honestly bought because the on-line price was as good as the off-brands but good quality. I've seen the same exact cable in the stores for $30 or more I'm using as a printer cable for the past month with no problems. It's also backward compatible with USB 1.1.Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 with GPS

Great for Planning Your Trip
Works well on my computer and is great for our road trips, very accurate and easy to work.Couldn't get it to load...
I had great hopes for this product, however I couldn't get it to load on my XP OS Laptop. I am not computer illiterate however I didn't want to invest the time in a product with no visible support mechanism, so back it went. Not bad for $59.99
That was what I paid. It's now $71. Still not a bad price for what it can do. This is no way near the convenience and usability of a standalone unit. But it will take you where you want to go. The voice guidance was a nice and needed addition. Unlike a windshield and dash mount unit, you have to look away from the road to see the laptop screen. I owned the 2006 version which did not have voice guidance. I use it mainly for planning trips and getting directions. I can zoom and pan at lightning speed compared to the online Mapquest and the like. I didn't mind paying the extra $20 or so for the GPS receiver just in case I need it. Don't buy it just to use it in a car for navigation. It's just too awkward (and dangerous). You can spend just a little over $100 for a standalone unit that would serve you better.Microsoft shows you the way
I have GPS on my phone; GPS in my car; and now I have Bill Gates, whoops I mean GPS telling my notebook computer where to go and how to get there. This was a purchase for the fun of having another toy to play with, and play I have. Even without the GPS it is useful. Kind of like having Mapquest without needing an internet connection. Installation is simple, The GPS receiver provided is small and fits nicely in the very compact bag I use to carry my computer around and everything works as advertised. Good content in the POI file, and the maps, at least for the northeast U.S. seem pretty complete and up to date. When I compare route calculations with what the GPS in my Honda Pilot does, they are very similar. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my purchase. BTW, you can find standalone GPS receivers that use USB connectors and provide output in NEMA format. If you have/buy one of these then get MS S&T without the receiver. They should work fine together.Good product
Product as was described. Very happy with results and its pretty up to date. I live in Tucson AZ so with new housing and roads things are always changing. I would recommend this product.Monday, July 7, 2008
Asus Eee PC 2G Surf (7" Screen, 800 MHz Intel Celeron Processor, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB Hard Drive, Linux Preloaded) Pure White
![]() |
You get what you pay for
I like the small size. However, the poor resolution (800x480) of the screen makes it hard for normal internet usage. One would assume the flash drive would make the PC run very fast, but it seem to run as slow as any other sub-$300 laptop. Finally the battery life should be a LOT longer than a normal laptop since it has no moving parts, but it doesn't last very long. Next time I will just spend a little bit more and buy a laptop without the limitations this one has.Yep.
Basically, what you see is what you get. It is pretty spiffy and small though. I recommend if you want a small internet surfing machine.Asus Eee PC 2G
This little computer does what it's supposed to and for a low price. The unit requires occasional horizontal scrolling, but other than that is identical in use to a larger one. There was no problem useing the Linux operating system--its fast and works well. This is great for travel. I only wish my Verizon wireless modem worked with Linux; unfortunately it only works with Windows.it's great
This is a tiny laptop. It's a little bit difficult to use the keyboard because it's so small. Also the battery doesn't last very long. However it is very lightweight and perfect to take on a trip if you want to check your email and do some light stuff. It fits in my purse! I love it but as a secondary computer, you couldn't use it as your one and only. It's PERFECT!
I absolutely love the little machine! It's perfect for my needs. Friends are planning on purchasing the little PC as Christmas gifts for their kids.Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet

It just gets better
I bought the N810 a while ago, and have to say that it wasnt the best performance wise, but after upgrading to the new Diablo firmware, i performes oustanding. Videos look and play perfect, and everything else that comes with it. I told my self, if it can play videos at full screen, with no lag, then it should be able to handle everything else, and it really does. I didnt like the fact that you have to pay to install and run the gps software, and also it didnt come with a screen protector. HAd to get them separate. I have no problems with the word imput methods, which are the on screen keyboard, and the slide keyboard. Over all i gave it the highest rating because for people like me it serves its purpose, like video playback, music, high res pictures, internet, and all the apps that come with it, which are seriously useful for the mobile life.Nokia n810 after 60 days
I bought the Nokia n810 to replace my iPhone; I was tired of being "locked-in" and not fully owning my system. So far, It's pretty nice, and I'm able to use it for things I was never able to effectively use my iPhone for; loading MP3, Movies, etc, your not stuck using iTunes, just copy the content you want to the MMC card and away you go. You don't have to "crack" into the n810 to gain access to it like the iPhone. Since Nokia supports the Maemo project, I expect to see the n810 surpass the iPhone in what I can do with it.N810 not recommended
I purchased the 810 primarily as a highly portable device to read my yahoo mail. I have been less than happy with the 810's performance on this task. The response to my attempts to scroll are slow and awkward. My old Nokia 770 actually does a better job in handling yahoo mail. The 770 will only handle yahoo mail classic, but it does that well. In general I have found the 810 response to stylus touch to be very slow and not real useful. The GPS/map features are over hyped. Because the stylys touch response is so slow, it is hard to get exactly the map view you want. If you are thinking of buying one, you might want to wait for their next model or get one of the new sub notebook computers. Not what you expect.
I purchased the Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet as a birthday gift. The description of the tablet being able to connect by Bluetooth using your cell phone has not to been the case. It will connect in a Wi-Fi area, but that is not was I was expecting. It will work, but it doesn't do what the gift and cost of the product entailed. I am somewhat disappointed with it.Awesome Device!!
I already had an iPod touch, and after much consideration, I decided to get the N810 too. It is AWESOME. Especially with the Diablo upgrade. It's very fast and snappy, the browser is much better than that of the iPod touch. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a highly mobile cloud computing and media playack and navigation platform.Sunday, July 6, 2008

My First Mac
I love this computer! All I've heard about Macs is true, it works so well! I am very pleased with the good price on Amazon and how quickly it shipped. Finally made the change to mac, WOW, awesome, no more pc
I have been using a pc for MANY years... in fact, my pc knowledge has definitely helped me advance in my banking career (technology and banking). I used to build pc's, troubleshoot, fix, etc...Let me tell you from beginning to end to get a pc the way I want it from a fresh install is about 3.5 hours. Macbook fresh install done much quicker and programs install much faster. Plus, mac gives you restore disks, not bullcrap partition on your hard drive. Also, you dont see the junk that you do on new pc's. Enter the macbook. Mine> 2.4 ghz core2 duo, 4gb ram, 13.3 white. I love this damn thing. Story: my brother gets accepted to Cal and has no money for a laptop. I give him my hpdv6701 (great pc but w/ vista, eghhh). so im in need for a new laptop. I hear about macbooks so I go to best buy and check them out. I was hesitant at first but its because of my lack of knowledge about macs...I was trying to compare based on specs but not power/performance. I thought they were expensive (they are) but rightly so. A comparable pc would be the same price, if not more expensive!! DONT COMPARE 500-600 DOLLAR PC'S TO THIS MACBOOK BASED ON SPECS....THE PROCESSOR IN THIS MACBOOK IS STELLAR!!! I made the decision to buy and WOW, i am totally impressed. Somethings were different in making the transfer..but lets go over some things for those not to savvy with computers. Now, keep in mind, i had no troubles with my pc's, but im not the average joe, so here goes: pros * for those who dont know how to protect themselves, MACS do not get viruses!!! the old macs had about 60-80 viruses, but the new systems have no documented viruses. Windows? thousands of viruses. *installing applications is drag and drop. EASY *looks are beyond comparison *battery life is excellent *no need to consistently restart computer *powerful processor *weighs less than 5 lbs (13.3 macbook) *powerful (add the 4gb and you fly). BTW, dont upgrade ram through apple, wayyyyy to expensive. Check out new egg dot com *graphics are amazing *i never had to pay for any software but there are some free programs that are fantastic - neo office for those who need productivity comparable to ms office. * it just works, no setting up thousands of options cons *apple uses mini dvi port for projectors and or external monitors on the macbook (pro uses regular dvi). mini dvi gets loose and just not that good of a connector. wish it was dvi or vga. *if using it for awhile, macbook can get a bit warm. newest versions are not like older ones that had heating problems...if you get an ilap you will be good. *you will not want to get off your macbook conclusion: buy it, its totally worth it. amin---out.Mac laptop
As always, Apple products dazzle and do not disappoint. With the addition of a wireless router, the freedom to take the laptop anywhere in the house and backyard is awesome!Excellent
As a first time user switching from Windoze to OSX, have to admit it's very easy. The Macbook is excellent (although I must admit I've upgraded the RAM to 4GB). Very light and super quick. Only irritating part is that I have to ensure that my hands are clean, else there would be smudges all over the thing. The downside with white I guess.Great way to use that stimulus check
Sign up for the Amazon Prime thing and you can get this macbook delivered next day for less than the list price. My cost is only $482 plus change after deducting the stimulus check. Well, I wanted to help the economy out some. As for the macbook, this machine does just as much work as my iMac; only the screen is smaller. The display is excellent, sound quality good but not on par with larger systems. Keyboard will take getting used to as it is not the old IBM electric feel. The track pad will remind long time mac users of the old one button mouse and the control/click function.OS X has been a rock steady operating system for me since February, 2003, each new release making routine chores easier, along with more and better eye candy if you are into that.Software included is easy to use, you get real DVD backups, and no crapware. Documentation is better than most, but still "lacking". Get one of the Missing Manual books (Amazon.com has them)as it makes things much easier. All in all, 5 stars for the macbook and 6 stars for Amazon.com for the great savings. My next iMac will come from Amazon.com.Saturday, July 5, 2008

Love my EEE PC!
I've had this little computer over a month now and I LOVE it! It's ultra-portable and so lightweight. The keyboard is small, but so am I. I can see, however, how it might be difficult for someone with bigger hands to type on the small keyboard. It doesn't have much extra room, but I bought an 8gb jump and that works fine for storing my pictures and documents. I mostly use the computer for internet, email, and some homework. I have had no problems with the wireless connection. My classmates think it's really cool. So do I! I would give it 5 stars, but because it doesn't have much storage I'm giving it 4. By the way, I also have a MacBook Pro, but I don't ever carry it to school because it's bulky. I can put this computer in my purse, or in the small front pocket of my backpack.
Asus review
Wow, excellent computer, I can fit into my purse and take it everywhere. The perfect laptop so far!!!Perfect for me
I love this laptop that fits in my purse. Perfect for traveling. This would not be good for a main computer, but for emails and checking accounts, map quest on trips-its terrific for that. The keyboard is small so probably not good for chubby fingers.Great for travel!
I recently purchased the 4G Surf for use on a vacation. In the past, I have traveled with a traditional laptop but I decided I wanted something smaller and lighter. Having now returned from a 2-week vacation, I can say that I LOVE this machine! It's smaller and lighter than a Harry Potter book, making it VERY easy to put in a totebag or day-pack. It boots up incredibly fast and pretty easily finds WiFi hotspots. (I did find that unclicking and then reclicking the "Enable Wireless" button basically acted as a refresh and made finding a connection much faster.) I had plenty of room to store and organize over 600 photos. I had never used Linux before but found it easy and intuitive. Also, the Office-like software that came loaded essentially worked like the Office versions. The only hang-up I encountered was when I cut and pasted a Word document into a blog, I had to erase some html code to make it recognizable by Blogger. The keyboard is a bit small but I consider it a minimal inconvenience. Overall, I highly recommend the 4G Surf.AppleCare Protection Plan MA519LL/A for MacBook Air / MacBook

Covers peripherals too. One of the few "worthwhile" Ext Warranties.
It's worth noting that the Applecare warranty doesn't just cover the Mac. It covers many Apple devices that are connected to it. For instance, a Time Capsule is covered. Here's a comprehensive list (from Apple's site) >Apple hardware products4 - An Apple computer - An Apple mouse and keyboard when included with a covered computer (or purchased with Mac mini) - An Apple display when purchased and registered with a covered Mac mini, Mac Pro, or MacBook Pro computer - An AirPort Extreme Card, AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, Time Capsule, MacBook Air SuperDrive, and Apple RAM when used with a Mac covered by the AppleCare Protection Plan >The Mac OS4 >Many Apple-branded consumer applications, including iLife and iWork I don't normally buy extended warranties since the money I've saved is enough to replace anything I buy (i.e. I've saved $1,500 on warranties by NOT buying them). OTOH, I have a Time Capsule that runs so hot, I'm willing to bet an Applecare plan it dies within 3 years ;) The plan is one of the better EWarranties out there if you buy it. If you don't use it, you've obviously lost. On the other hand, it covers so much in addition to just the Mac, that if you've got a lot of Apple equipment, there's a better-than-average chance you'll wind up finding a use for it. Bottom line: If you religiously avoid EWarranties, you've correctly seen through what amounts to a scam. Wisest "non-investment" you'll probably ever make. But if you're going to give in just once, you could do a lot worse than an Applecare plan.necessary expense
I love my macbook, therefore I have to shell out over $200 to keep it healthy. Chances are I won't even need to use the extended warranty, but why chance it?Get the student discount!
They do not advertise this but if you are a student call Apple and they will give you a student discount. I only had to pay $183. Cheaper than Amazon!Good value for an Ext. Warranty
I'm not going to debate on the benefits/negatives of purchasing an extended warranty because I figure people can make up their own minds on whether or not they need it. Personally, I purchase the ext. warranty on anything I don't want to repair or replace that is somewhat costly. For instance, we have an ext. warranty on our 42" Plasma, Xbox 360, and our new Saturn. I had an ext. warranty on an Ford ZX2 I bought several years ago and it paid for itself almost 3x over because of brake and transmission problems I kept having. However, there are some products that are built so well that they almost negate the cost of an extended warranty, so you will have to decide for yourself based on your experience. For the new Mac owner or first-time computer buyer, I think that AppleCare is a safe bet because it gives you 3 years of covered repairs. All Mac portables comes with a standard 1 year warranty but only 90 days of technical support. Apple will only charge you for support if the problem is not related to hardware. For instance, if you call and tell them your hard drive is dead, they will send you a box and repair your notebook for free. However, if you call because you can't print, they will probably charge you to troubleshoot over the telephone. I don't agree w/ Apple's philosophy of 90 days of standard technical support, but Macs are by nature easy to use and require little to any hand-holding. For the experienced computer buyer/owner or Mac veteran, the choice can go either way; you may know a place to send it, or can fix it yourself after the warranty has expired. You probably already know how to fix 99% of the computer software issues out there, and require no help in the process. If you are this person, you probably either already own AppleCare or plan to never purchase an ext. warranty. I fall in the middle. I prefer to cover the expensive stuff because I think it's well worth having covered repairs for 3 years (2 years + 1 year std.) and having customer service if/when you need it. I rarely if ever call AppleCare for anything, but that's not to say it hasn't happened. I think the biggest selling point is Apple's customer service is located in N. America (US and Canada), so the language/accent barrier of some outsourced technical support departments is non-existent. If you call and say, "My battery isn't charging" or "I can't print", they will tell you in common-sense language instead of assuming you speak tech lingo. We own AppleCare on two of the three Macs in our house. It's always better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.Buying through Amazon is fine, easy to register online
I have to disagree with the previous reviewer who said you have to fax in your receipt. I didn't have to do it and it's easy to register online. Here's what happens: You just go to www.apple.com/support/register. Then you put in the date you bought the computer, the serial number (easy to find by going under the Apple menu of your computer to About This Mac, then More Info) and then you input the registration code that comes on a piece of paper in the Protection Plan box. That's it. No faxing required. The box also contains a disk with a diagnostic program that you can install on your computer. Or just remember where the disk is because if you have a problem, the Apple Support folks might ask you to run it. (The program can do some minor first-aid work, too.) Apple Support is excellent; of course, it better be because you're paying good money for it. With my last Mac laptop, they solved every problem, even some email connection stuff that they could've pawned off on my internet provider. And when my computer started acting up, they had me send in the computer (paid for by them) and they replaced the motherboard and returned it, all in less than a week. I think it would be of most use to people who aren't really computer savvy because they'll help you through things like setting up email accounts, connecting printers and connecting wirelessly. That said, the Tiger operating system is such a leap forward that most people won't need tech support -- the computer itself is just amazing at solving connection problems for you. So here's my bottom line advice, which I wish I'd taken myself: You're covered for the first 90 days for software and hardware help so I'd wait till about then and see how much you need it and only then, if I'm having problems, would I purchase it. It's simply too expensive and there's too big a chance you won't need it for you to consider this an essential purchase.Thursday, July 3, 2008
Logitech VX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks
![]() |
No better mouse of this type
I have had the VX for over one year and purchased another not long ago. The VX is Logitech's big break through in making this type of mouse "free" and unencumbered: its really light (one battery), one can shut it off to save the battery and the battery last longer than most mice with two batteries. The USB plug-in sending unit also stores in a slot in the mouse, automatically shutting it off in the process. The zoom and scroll features really work, and right/left clicks are normal. With add-on Teflon pads, its even faster and more nimble on the surface ... its not just for notebooks! Great product!Mac users beware
The default Mac mouse behaves such that a slow movement of the hand will cause the pointer toExcellent Mouse
I love this mouse. It has a great look and feel to it. I love that the USB dongle plugs into it when the mouse is not in use. It also turns the mous off when the USB dongle plugs in so that you do not waste the battery life. It also takes only AA battery. I would recommend this mouse to anyone interested in a light, sleek, cordless mouse with a good bettery life.very nice
one of my best purchases in a while. i love this mouse. incredible performance. One of the best
Have tried many mice from many companies over the years, but Logitech has definitely taken the lead with their VX Revolution and Nano notebook mice. In fact I use the Revolution as a desktop mouse, perfect for professional r&d work. Great ergonomics, excellent button feel, and style. My only complaint, though minor, is the scroll wheel when in ratcheted mode sounds and feels a little clunky. In other words, smaller and smoother detents would be preferred. Otherwise highly recommended.Belkin F8N044-BRN CushTop Notebook Stand - Chocolate w/ Blue

Useful in some situations, not so great in others
I've tried this out with a Macbook Pro 17", and I find that the stand raises the laptop too high for comfort for me if I'm sitting on an armless chair, a couch or the bed. The screen location is great, but my wrists end up pressed against the near edge of the laptop. This gets uncomfortable quickly. However, in an armchair, the cushion works really well. Not sure yet if I'm going to return it; the limited usage barely justifies the cost.Does what it says, but could be better
I like the angle of the stand (most stands are flat). It also elevates the laptop a few inches which is better for my back and neck. My only complaint is that it's very hard, it'd be nice if there was some give...especially in the middle where you'd like to squeeze stuff in.Great Product
It's very sturdy and LIGHT! I like the side handles for lifting the pad. It looks sturdy enough to think it will last several years. I like the color options to go with one's furniture. Great job Belkin!Great Product
Belkin F8N044-BRN CushTop Notebook Stand - Chocolate w/ Blue It is very confortable and great to use while using the laptop around the house. It really keeps you cool and makes working in your laptop a new experience. It only has one small defect, some laptops will slide of so you must be careful.LOVE IT!
Honestly, I didn't even know these things existed! I was visiting my son and noticed my daughter-in-law using one of these and immediately logged on to Amazon and ordered one for myself! I got it today and I've been using it all day long. For once my lap is not getting uncomfortably warm from hosting my laptop or sweaty from the blanket I usually have to rest it on to keep from getting burned. Plus the stablity is fantastic and it's easy to position it well even when using my laptop in my recliner. The bottom of my laptop is not nearly as hot as it usually is so I have to conclude that this thing actually does absorb and disperse the heat. This product has made me a very happy camper, considering how much time I spend with a laptop actually in my lap!
